This means that although there are some who are confident, assertive and sure about what they do with their work, most of the guys are content with following orders and being influence by the "empowered" ones in the organization. However, this doesn't mean that they perform unsatisfactorily or are not contented with the work that they are doing. It might be for some, being at the sidelines (following orders, implementing strategies) are tasks that they prefer most which gives them satisfaction as far as their work is concerned.

People who are members of an organization should feel a sense of mutual respect for each other's talents and abilities as well as their differences. The opportunity to be heard and recognized by management (even if it won't really be given action) is something that is already valuable which could give a sense of value and importance, empowering the employees in an organization. Continuous learning in the form of seminars and workshops are also tools that could empower the employees more, knowing that knowledge give us the power in the sense that it equips us with facts and information that enables us to be ready and prepared for different situations.

Coercion doesn't bring empowerment. Forceful and threatening way of telling employs what to do is something that should not even be considered as it doesn't empower the employees at all. Planting fear in each employee to do whatever task is not empowerment at all. Empowerment as I understand is the ability to do whatever task in whatever situation (whether there is a reward or not) and it is not a temporary state.Do you personally experience yourself as powerful, powerless, or both On what do you base your perceptions At this point in time, I can say that I am pretty much empowered myself, as far as my work is concerned.

I am confident about how to go about my job and the results of my work and I am also assertive in the sense that I openly talk to my immediate supervisor about the progress of my work or any suggestions that I have in mind related to the task at hand, and my supervisor, sometimes sees the importance of my suggestion, he would then inform higher management about it (which is a good thing and it feels really great). However, there are also times when I feel powerless and it is whenever, I am not able to successfully persuade or ask my colleague or immediate supervisor to let me apply my ideas (or whatever.
