Many of the jobs in large organization offer limited intrinsic motivation for effective performance and productivity. For such jobs the concept of job enrichment is supposed to be the most applicable. The job enrichment is designed to enhance the quality of work and thus increase worker involvement and motivation. One of the major problems facing enterprises is how to get optimum results from the massive investments in these enterprises and the foremost problem among these is the problem of motivating human resources, problems of under-Utilization of abilities, frustration, instigated behavior, unfavorable job attitudes and low morale appear to prevail as much among managers and supervisors as among workers. Motivation has been defined as the force that gives rise to a behavior. There are various factors that influence the behavior and among them the needs of the individual are most important (Douglas, 1997. p.52). Needs not only initiate but also sustain the force of behavior and this is called motivation. Since people spend very significant part of their working lives in workplaces, it is natural that they seek to satisfy their needs through work and in their organizations. ...
