In taking this customer-centric approach, DP World is building on the established relationships and superior level of service demonstrated at its flagship Jebel Ali facility in Dubai, which has been voted "Best Seaport in the Middle East" for 15 consecutive years. In 2008, DP World handled more than 46.8 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent container units) across its portfolio from the Americas to Asia - an increase of 8% on 2007. With a pipeline of expansion and development projects in key growth markets, including India, China and the Middle East, capacity is expected to rise to around 95 million TEU over the next ten years.

In the fast-paced world of today where technology is the dominant factor, it is essential for businesses to retain their customers in order to grow and expand. Dubai Port World has been concentrating on improving its organizational performance through a great deal of investment in its human resources. With a fully functional human resources hiring and compensation plan, DP World is one of the few companies in the field that can be looked up to in this field. DP World seeks to establish long term relationships with its customers and for that purpose it has constantly focused on its organizational performance.

It is necessary for the company to identify the variables that affect its performance. Though there are various accounts regarding different variables being the most important ones that affect organizational performance, it cannot be ascertained that one of these is the most dominant without proper research.However, the three most important variables whose effect on organizational performance outweigh the effects of other variables are: communication, motivation and commitment. The direct effect of these variables has had proven improvements in organizational performances of other corporations in the past.

It is necessary thus, to understand which of these three variables has the greatest positive (or negative) impact on the organizational performance, measured in terms of output and productivity, of Dubai Port World Company.Hypothetical FrameworkIt is necessary to underpin a hypothetical framework to any research for the purpose of meaningful analysis and conclusions. The hypothetical framework for this research will be based upon published research and observations in human resource behavior.
