ZJZ Cosmetics’ financial objectives of profitability and maximization of shareholder value are attained largely through its commitment to manufacturing products with zero deficiencies. In line with ZJZ Corporation’s goal of upholding product excellence, it will put in place a quality control system that generally aims to establish routine technical activities to measure and control the quality of the inventory as it is being developed. This effort will be used to ensure that products are manufactured according to their purpose at their specifications allowing no room for defects. The specific objectives of the quality initiative are stated as follows:

1. Ensure data integrity, correctness, and completeness; 2. Identify and address errors and omissions; 3. Document and archive inventory material and record all quality control activities.  The quality control program will be ZJZ Cosmetic’s primary means of maintaining the excellence of its products and improving the efficiency of its production processes. In this regard, the establishment of a quality control department which will be tasked to oversee the company’s processes is deemed to be imperative. The creation of a department that will solely focus on minimizing and eliminating defects is expected to enhance the effectiveness of the program and further communicate the commitment of ZJZ Cosmetics to improving its products to various stakeholders.

It is expected that the quality department will be more effective in resolving quality issues than each department manager alone. The quality initiative will involve the provision of routine and consistent checks in the various business processes of the company which will encompass almost all the functional areas of ZJZ Cosmetics. This will be progressive, starting from the specific contributors to product quality like labeling, storage, and shipping. In the latter phase, the company will focus on business processes that will contribute to product quality like research and manufacturing. Recognizing the urgency of the quality initiative, the company will start to put in place the necessary measures early this year. As stated above, the quality control program will start with the specific product quality contributors like labeling, storage, and shipping and will progress through the inclusion of processes like manufacturing and research. It should be noted that product labeling is at the far end of the manufacturing activities. After the raw materials have been processed and packaged, they are labeled to identify when they are produced and when they are expected to expire. Next, they are stored in the company’s warehouse before they are shipped to the client’s manufacturing plants. Initially, the quality initiative will focus on these three business processes.  

The following are the quality standards that will be expected by ZJZ Cosmetic’s customers: 1. Production of the order according to its specification; 2. Labeling which accurately bears the product name, content, date manufactured, and expiration date; 3. Protective packaging which will shield the product from the damages that might be incurred as it is being shipped from the company’s warehouse to the client’s manufacturing plant and from possible mishandling; and

4. On-time delivery.  To do this, ZJZ Cosmetics will be putting in place a comprehensive program that encompasses preventive, concurrent, and corrective controls. To ensure the accuracy, completeness, and correctness of labeling, specialized equipment will be employed to solely provide labels to products. Before the labels are placed in the packaging data accuracy will be double-checked by the equipment technician.

In the company’s warehouse, the output will be stored according to the date they are manufactured together with their expiration date. An additional workforce will be utilized to monitor the shipment from the warehouse. To prevent the shipment of products that are close to expiration, all outputs that will expire within a month will be disposed of from the warehouse. To prevent early product spoilage, the proper temperature for each product will be maintained in the warehouse.
Before shipping the items to customers, products will be released after inspecting the order form which bears the product specification, quantity, and code.
