College Admission Essay I. Professional and Educational Goals 1. What specific goals do you hope to accomplish as an outcome of earning your degree from Ellis College? Please distinguish between personal and professional goals and address both. My specific goals are to have a Masters level degree in Accounting, and a Bachelors Degree from Ellis College is the first step in this direction. Globalization calls for the companies to look for investment opportunities under different sets of circumstances. Therefore companies have to depend on finance and investment experts. I want to get a CPA license in near future. This is my professionals’ goals. As for my personal goals, in my opinion long term success means recognition as an expert in the field in which I’m passionate and I want to be known as a successful professional in Accounts and finance. 2. How do you think your degree from Ellis College will help you achieve these goals? Ellis College believes in delivering superior education to the students. I can take the first major step towards achieving my carrier goal at Ellis. I do not have an American diploma but what I know is Ellis values the experience gained by the individual over the years, which will help me as I have plenty of experience in the profession. 3. Do you intend to stay in your current role within your organization (e.g., do you plan to advance in your general area or move to a different role or organization)? I am planning to join another organization, because right now I have a decent job, but with not much of growth potential. I firmly believe that to grow up, there must be opportunities for capable persons, which in turn provide motivation to perform still better. 4. In what position do you see yourself employed three to five years after graduation? After three years I see myself as an accountant in a CPA firm, and after five I will have my own business. 5. As you advance in your career, what are your priorities related to advancement? For example, these priorities may include finding a stable position, reaching a certain salary level, fulfilling a personal interest, using specialized skills, being challenged intellectually, or providing benefits to others. You may have other priorities than the examples listed here, and you are encouraged to discuss them. My short term goal is to gain credentials as a qualified learner, who’s ready to accept the challenges and learn from them. Therefore my first priority is to reach a stable position using specialized skills. Ellis College will help me in polishing my skills. I’ll do all my sincere efforts to consolidate my position thereafter. And after reaching a certain salary level I’ll consider having my own enterprise. Having received so much from the society, I consider it my solemn duty to pay my due share back to the society as well. I’ll therefore, do my bit to help in reducing the agony of orphan kids by providing them with toys and books. 6. How do you see your Ellis degree affecting the confidence and comfort with which you approach challenges in your professional life. Ellis College is certain to provide me the edge in interpreting the challenges arising out of globalization and competition. I am sure Ellis can help me in restructuring my knowledge and broadening the knowledge base. II. Personal Assessment In one or two paragraphs (at least 100 words), discuss your strengths and weaknesses as a learner. To help you answer this question, think about your previous learning experiences. What did you enjoy? What was difficult for you? You may include high school, college, or work-related learning experiences. I am a disciplined learner and I try to submit all my assignments and project works in time. I know it requires some patience and time management to learn online. I do have the patience to learn online and I thoroughly enjoyed my previous course learning. Initially it takes some time to organize oneself to maintain the schedule, but once I start making schedules depending upon the course requirements and specific tasks on a given day, things become more comfortable. I’ll be using the same strategy while pursuing the course from Ellis College. For professional classes my work experience will certainly help me a lot too. Being a non-American, I may face some difficulty in other classes, but I am confident that I’ll make it soon enough. III. Potential Obstacles Busy working adults who are also studying to complete a degree sometimes face obstacles in their learning path, such as family obligations, work responsibilities, or business travel. In one or two brief paragraphs (at least 100 words), tell us what obstacles may arise for you during your studies with Ellis College. Explain how these obstacles may affect you and how you plan to overcome them. I have a job with business travel requirements, but my boss understands my college requirements and he tries to help me by making suitable adjustments so that I can create my own schedule convenient enough for me and for the organization. Sometimes family engagements too prove to be some sort of obstacles. Being a lady member in the family sometimes circumstances become quite challenging, but I am fortunate to have a supportive husband and family. My family tries to help me with my college work while my mother and my husband share most of my responsibilities. Being a mother, I need to take care of my son as well, in such a manner that while pursuing my studies he doesn’t feel alienated. Whenever my son is sick it becomes quite tough to concentrate on assignments, but these are the challenges which one has to overcome to pursue the career goals. I understand my responsibilities towards my family and I really love my family because they have been doing everything to help me pursue my education. IV. A Promise to Yourself As a working adult, you may face challenges in your day-to-day life that cause you to rethink your educational goals and to consider dropping out of Ellis College. If you do ever reach this point, what would you tell yourself to stay true to your professional and educational goals? Yes indeed, I do accept that such challenges may crop up in anyone’s life. I have given a deep thought to my goals long time ago and I am sincerely working towards achieving it. Though I can not foretell what the future has in store for me, yet I understand that pursuing this study is a professional requirement, which will help me in fulfilling my esteem needs. I want to be a professional in the area of accounting and I want to be a successful person. Therefore I’ll do everything possible within my reach to overcome the problems. Read More
