One of the more common experiences of such disruptive is the include non-compliance of instructions from their teachers. This disruptive behavior impacts negatively in providing these students with their educational requirements. This results in the teacher using several means at hand like issuing commands, use of reinforcement for compliance, and other intervention strategies. Unless trained and skilled properly, and with a proper understanding of the utilization of these intervention strategies, the teacher may use the intervention strategies improperly leading to the intervention strategy being ineffective.

In addition there arises the question of the use of the right intervention strategy, or the right combination of intervention strategies to provide the required compliance of instructions in the classroom without excessive strain of effort and resources on the part of the teacher and the educational system on the whole. It is from the evidence that scientific studies produce that efficient, expedient and classroom manageable intervention strategies in managing disruptive behaviors by children with SED in the classroom emerge.

This paper looks at two research studies that examine efficient, expedient and classroom manageable use of intervention strategies in managing disruptive behaviors by children with SED in classrooms. Independent, interdependent and dependent contingencies, also known as group contingencies provide a feasible means for the management of consequences and reinforcement of individual students. The independent group contingency makes use of the same criteria, behaviors, and reinforcers to the entire class, but reinforcement is given based on the performance of the individual.

In interdependent group contingency the same reinforcer is used for the group on achieving a specified criterion. In dependent group contingency reinforcement of the group is on the basis of the performance of an individual or a small subset of the group. Group
