How Race Continues To Play A Role in the Hiring and Employment of Black Males Color matters and it is a fact. Employment of most black Americans means pushing hard the frontiers of racism. Good education is one of the key factors in attaining a better job and even a good career, yet still, blacks are being singled out and stereotyping exists in the four walls of learning institutions which in the long run, causes a lower percentage of employment for black males compared to white males. History, statistical analysis, experiences are formidable bastion of racism, that until now exist and will still exist beyond the statue of liberty. Statistical Analysis Employment rate analysis of young less educated black men from 1979 to 2000 shows that: Employment of less educated black males today range only up to 52 percent compared to 62 percent two decades ago, contrary to the employment rate of comparable white and Hispanic males that has been steady over the past 20 years, and employment among young black women has increased significantly. The employment rate in cities decline up to 16 percent than in suburbs, and the difference broadened over the last decade. Part of the market population and the anxiety about crime crowded the perspective of some possible employers; furthermore, increased enforcement of child support orders may play a vital role in the declining manufacturing employment of these young men. Industrial metro areas and major metros like New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco offered lower rates of employment directly in contrast to those in rural areas. However, southern metro areas offer this group better employment prospects. Race and Poverty Racism is very evident through black American men’s income. Hard labor begets years of discrimination and prejudice through education and employment.  Economists can further prove this fact; apparently, wages for white soar high while black workers compensate a little serving the similar function in the society as employees with about the same educational backgrounds. There should be no disparity in emolument only for a reason of complexion; however, there exist a vast difference. A Labor Department study concludes that African American men who do not possess a high school diploma received less than 20 percent of their total wage compare to whites of the same position and in similar job categories.   Black high school graduates’ wages was 24 percent short than the wages paid to white graduates; those blacks who attained a bachelor’s degree are paid 21 percent less of the salaries paid to white college graduates doing the same job.  The same ‘rule’ applies in professions, black attorneys earn $790 for every $1000 paid to white lawyers and African Americans with master’s degrees get only 77 cents for every dollar paid to whites, that is 23 percent less – their reason – racial discrimination. Data The figure shows the employment rates for young less educated black American men, ages range from 16 to 24, for the past two decades. The declining rate of employment of about 20 percent is very much noticeable for young less educated black men than those of whites. Labor force participation rates for young less educated men of 1979 to 2000 continue to decline; one contributory factor is that most black males are unaware of employment options and opportunities. The effects on the labor force activity of young less-educated black men brought two relatively recent changes: (1) The dramatic rise in the share of young black men who have been incarcerated during the past two decades; and (2) Growing enforcement of child support orders in that time period. Both these factors disproportionately affect young black men; and both are likely to limit the employment. Disproportionate unemployment rates for Black males are a result of the insufficient employment opportunities available for those without a high school diploma, or without experience in a skilled trade. Frontiers Employment for Black males continues to be a dispute which drives their survival instincts leading to a high risk of criminal or unlawful behavior. Black Americans’ incapability of acquiring better employment affects their self worth and reduces their responsibility to provide for their family. Too many Black males engage in high risk, destructive behavior and wind up dead or in prison. Lack of proper education and skills. Conclusion Black male students are far behind other race to finish their courses at much lower rate. Diplomas of various categories directly influence continuing education and hiring trends of almost all companies in the United States. Better education must be the goal of black males because it is the best way possible to help them reassure their lives and achieve their full potential in improving not only their lives but also of the lives of their families. No job means no living, greatly equaled to poverty. Sociologists and social scientists who delved into research of modern poverty concludes that poverty for black Americans results from a long history of disparity and bad education, which has produced unceasing tragedy of unemployment for many unskilled and illiterate young men and adults; low wages paid to unskilled workers in entry level positions and in migrant agricultural labor (almost half of the poor actually were employed), and discrimination in employment and wages paid to minority workers.  The breadwinner earning a minimum wage 40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year would have earnings well under the official poverty level. Inadequate public assistance and welfare payments to families by the states are some of the major factor affecting employment and poverty rate of black American people. In the face of adversity towards achieving a good education, it is the pursuit of a black man that will drive him towards achieving his goals, and one of which is having a better and stable job. And through this challenge, black males are trained to survive and conquer the fears that surround millions of black people into what I called “Land of Bondage, land of the Free” – the disturbing racial discrimination.
