This is another important aspect which is under debate nowadays. Each and ever single person knows that he is being watched by a hidden eye, it could either be A camera at the airport ticket counters that can tell if you are stressed, or Satellites and surveillance equipments that can see through the walls of our home. This feeling of Government interference has long term effects on people lives. Americans are now more feeling more vulnerable and threatened from the outside world. This whole process has made dramatic changes on the everyday lives of the people.

Berzezinski has an extensive research and analysis on his background which is clearly depicted in Fortress America. Brzezinski accessed different officers in the Customs, Immigration, Coast Guards and Technology directorates to gather integral information. A very disturbing scenario was found out which is mentioned in Fortress America about the mixture of underachievement. Nuclear of biochemical devices examination is not done on around 95 percent of cargo containers moving through American ports.

Due to the lobbying efforts of the Petrochemical industry more than 15000 chemical plants are exposed to attacks as they were on 9/11. Frontline security and responders have also weakened due to indulgence in Iraq War and constant supply of troops to Iraq. (Brzezinski, 156)This book is stuffed with disturbing new gadgets -- silent, low-flying buzz that watch us overhead; behavior-spotting software; microscopic radio-frequency identification tags that when placed beneath our skin could track our every move and a broad list of amusing characters.

An alpha- male Israeli defense boss on one side, a physicist turned bio-weapons expert and countless freaking cops and menacing bureaucrats; on the other, extremists living in caves and deserts, Chechen Qaeda forces and doubtful Egyptians. In the United States we are not used to protecting our selves from terrorist attacks, because we are the super power, no one really messes with us so when things like this happen we were pretty unprepared. It is argued in this book that DHS (Department of Homeland Security) has not done a professional job in regulating the security of the chemical industry.

On the other hand Environmental Protection Agency says that around a million people are endangered due to poisonous agents like ammonia and chlorine discharged by plants on daily basis. Unfortunately when someone asks DHS who is responsible for all this they say that Regulating is not their job. These all critical problems are included in this book. The question that needs answer today is that Will Americans trade liberty for security Is there any choice that the people of America have today And the most important is that will all these critical measures ensure that an attack like 9/11 would not happen again.

Advanced warnings six years before WTC disaster and dramatic war games secretly carried out at Andrews Air Base, Fortress America casts out a vague future of freedom and how will we be living in an utmost security state.
