Descriptive Narration Who would have thought that a night out after all those efforts, would cost me a treasure chest? There was this very weird feeling I was had from the very moment I started pressurizing my parents to dine out. That night was very calm and soothing and the weather was just about perfect to induce any nature lover to go experience it. I remember clearly the weather forecast I had seen earlier that day; predictions had it that it was to rain that night the way trees shed their leaves in autumn.

It was a Saturday night and I had returned home early that day thinking of ways to relax after a tough week at work. It was about dinner time when I asked my parents to get dressed up so we could go and dine out at Al-Habib Resturant. Al-Habib had to be the perfect location that night as it was located on the suburbs of Karachi and I wanted to drive out of the metro for a change, plus the food they offered was amongst the best in town. Convincing my parents wasn’t an easy job at all considering my mom isn’t an easy person to deal with.

Looking for my parents, I finally found them in the kitchen. Dad was busy watching news as usual and mom was busy with the household chores. The moment I got hold of her was when she had just moved on to the dishwasher to do the dishes. I asked her to get ready so we could leave in a bit, but much to my amazement she seemed to be the least interested. She replied in the negative and told me she had peeled the potatoes and was just about to fry them and there was no chance we’d leave. This is where my tool of emotional blackmail came in, something which I was very good it.

I told her I hadn’t been out since a month, that even at the office the year end auditing had kept me really busy and tensed. Dad, being a former auditor himself poked in and convinced mom telling her how important this rest was for me. Mom still pissed, finally did agree to leave. As soon as the clock struck nice, I got out of my apartments and told my parents to come down in five minutes while I get the petrol tank filled up from the nearby pump. Upon reaching the parking lot, straight away I found my car and drove towards the pump.

On my way to the gas station, the roads seemed to be empty and I wasn’t able to find even a single car on my way. Even at the station I just found one car, that being of their proprietor. Anyway I got the tank filled and moved towards my apartments and ultimately reach there in five minutes. This time I didn’t enter the apartments but rather called up my dad on his cellular phone and told him I was waiting outside. In the meanwhile I was listening to Shakira’s latest CD which I had bought on my way back from work.

Ten minutes later I see dad and mom coming out of the apartment gates and searching for the car, as the street lights were off that day and it was pretty dark. I sounded the car horn and flashed the headlights towards them, signaling where I was. As they walked towards the car I could hear three dogs barking loud and fighting amongst themselves in the nearby plot where this mall was being constructed. Their voice was still echoing in the area when my parents sat in the car. Just as I was about to move the car started choking, the way a person does when he’s short of breath, and killed the ignition.

I got out of the car to figure out what was wrong and I see two two guys dressed up in black clothes with masks on their faces coming towards the car on a black Honda bike. As they came closer they reminded me of the Ninjas back from China. They came and stopped by the car and asked me if there was some problem. I thanked that and told them to move on thinking I’d be able to fix the fault on my own. Of the two ninja like characters, one was wearing really big Ray Ban optical glasses while the other one seemed to be short in height and was wearing a sleek golden watch.

The shorter one got off the bike and came closer towards me. I was still thinking he was there to help me and what I see next was to take the floor off my feet. He took a pistol out of his pocked and pointed it towards my chest. Next he asks me not to resist. I was still trying to figure out what was happening when the other guy who was still on the bike asked the shorter ninja to make it quick. Anyway he now asked me to hand over whatever I had. Without resisting a bit I handed him over my wallet and my Nokia N73 phone which my dad gave me on my birthday.

Next he moved on towards the car where mom and dad and told me to stay by the bonnet. He took away their cell phones and with my dad’s wallet. Smart enough, my mother dropped her purse on the car floor so he couldn’t notice it. But she wasn’t that lucky, that professional thief was too smart to notice that she was wearing a good forty grams of gold bangles. Quick to catch on, he asked her to hand it over and my mother did so. Next, he came towards me and took the car keys. I thought he would take away the car, but thankfully enough he said that he’ll throw the car keys a bit ahead on the same road and I could get them once he leaves.

Taking the keys he was real quick to get on to the bike and warned me not to follow or call the police or he won’t spare me. As he drove away I did nothing then jus watching him away and crying over my fate. What a day it was then! Mom who was pissed already got angry and told me this is what happens when one doesn’t follow what their elders say. I just listened to her that day as I wasn’t at all in a condition to reply back. But this is fate, and nothing can over-do it. What next? I went ahead and found the car keys and told mom dad to go home.

But mom has this habit of surprising the people who believe they know her really well. This time she told me to still carry on with the plan. I told her it was fine, but she insisted and asked me to wait while she got some cash from the apartment. Finally we did go for the much waited dinner but in the end was it even worth it? What I learned here was something that I’ll never do again. I never even plan to go against my parents’ wish and force them to do something as when ever I do it something or the other happens.

And what happens is not very good.
