SUMMARY Survey: The Pew Research Center for the People & the Press is a research group which is independent. The center studies attitudes of the people and their opinions toward the press, politics and public policy issues. During the US presidential elections 2008, the center conducted a survey among 3,402 adults. These adults were interviewed on landline and cell phones. According to the survey, it was found out that since mid-October, “McCain has made gains among young voters, although they still favor Obama by a wide margin (by 61% to 36% among those ages 18 to 29).

Obama holds a wide lead over John McCain among those who say they have already voted (32% of all likely voters) or say they plan to vote before Election Day (7%)” (PEW Research Center).According to the survey sample, most of them support Obama strongly as compared to the McCain. Among the adults that might vote for Obama, 36% support him strongly whereas 13% support him moderately. In contrast, 24% voters support McCain strongly while 18% support him moderately. It has been noted that in the recent election campaigns, the candidate that had the stronger support had always won.

According to undertaken survey, McCain and Obama have sizable leads within their core constituent groups. This includes winning about nine-in-ten votes among their own partisans (90% of Democrats are voting for Obama, 89% of Republicans for McCain). The support among the blacks for Obama and McCain is 89% and 5% respectively, while that between Hispanics is 62% and 31%. Findings of the Survey:According to survey findings, Obama has a significant lead over McCain in the campaign of 2008. The Pew Research Center’s final pre-election poll of 2,587 likely voters, conducted Oct. 29-Nov. 1, finds 49% supporting Obama, while 42% support McCain whereas the minor parties candidates draw 2% and 7% are undecided.

According to the survey poll, it is predicted that the voters’ turnout will be greater in 2008 than it was in 2004. The increase in votes is due to the increase voting among young people and African Americans.Margin of Error:The following table shows the error attributable to sampling that would be expected at the 95% level of confidence for different groups in the survey:WORK CITED“Obama Leads Mccain 52% To 46% In Campaign’s Final Days.” The PEW Research Center. November 2, 2008. November 27, 2008.
