259689 Screenplay BY: The Back Door Horror INT. LONDON – DAY Large apartment overlooking a busy London street. Michael Neigh, a tall and handsome young man is busy at his computer – he moves the mouse around, types on the keyboard. Sayge, a petite and pretty, young woman with long hair comes into the room. SAYGE When are you leaving? NEIGH Doesn’t look up at her. Tomorrow, I’ll stay at Franklin’s place. He’ll go to the site with me on Friday night. If the ancient text I found in that auction box is accurate, then we’ll be making history by Monday morning. SAYGE Rolls her eyes. Did you ever stop to think if it sounds too good to be true, then maybe it is? It was in a box of junk, Neigh. That’s probably because that’s what it is, junk. NEIGH Sighs. Looks up, gives her the attention she wants. Look, that’s what we’re going to find out. I agree with you, okay. It is probably just junk, and if that’s the case, no big deal. I will have spent some time with a friend I haven’t seen in a year, and that’s the end of it. I can’t believe this is so hard for you. What are you going to do when my work starts taking me to remote places around the world? Annoyed, crosses his arms over his chest. NEIGH CONT’D This is a conversation we should probably have right now. She knows she’s lost this round. She smiles seductively, tosses some hair back away from her face, moves towards him. SAYGE Maybe we should . . . talk, that is. She pulls her sweater off, stands facing him. From behind, we see her hands undo her bra. He rises, moves to her in three steps, sweeps her up in his arms. DISSOLVE TO: EXT. LONDON STREET – DAY Sayge watches as Neigh loads his bags into the car. He turns to her, hugs her, then he kisses her. She looks worried, and he lightly traces an invisible worry wrinkle. She smiles at his touch. SAYGE Call me as soon as you get there. I’m gonna miss you. Smiling at her. NEIGH C’mon now, it won’t be so bad. Besides, if it’s as much fun to come home to you as it to leave you, I can’t wait to get home already. Last night was awesome. They kiss. He gets into his car, pulls away. CUT TO: Neigh is in his car, the scenery as he passes is countryside. He puts a CD into the player, his own voice fills the car in stereo. NEIGH’S VOICE Okay. This is Neigh, and it is about 10 p.m. on January 7, 2008. I decided that it was best, safest really, to put into the record the document that is the reason behind this trip – expedition even. Two days ago, I bought a box of surprise junk at an auction. When I got home, I found an old leather bound book in the box. There were a few drawings in the book, and I immediately recognized it is Celtic. The book is written in Celtic, but it has pictures, too. I could tell from the pictures that the book belonged to a Celtic priest, a Druid. It has drawings of Stonehenge in it, and an alignment of the planets that shows Venus, Jupiter and the Moon in conjunction with one another. That planetary line up is going to happen this weekend, beginning on Friday. This alignment will last a week, and then will not happen again for at least a thousand years. According to the book, the alignment will open a gate to another dimension on that night. I am going to be there Friday night, and if there is a door, if this book is legitimate, I am going through. FADE TO: INT. APARTMENT – NIGHT Inside Franklin’s apartment Neigh and Franklin are looking at copies of the drawings of Stonehenge. FRANKLIN This is pretty strange, because you see that stone, right here (pointing to the paper). It’s not there, buddy, it doesn’t exist. Did you look at the site? He pulls over his laptop and types. Both men look closely at the picture on the laptop. NEIGH No, shit, man. I never even thought about it. FRANKLIN Well, it is not going to change tonight whatever is left, or isn’t. Besides, look, the missing stone is not even the one that is shown in the drawing. Your stone is still there. You know, as much as I don’t believe this, I kind of have this feeling. By the way, where is the original book? NEIGH It’s at home. If it turns out to be legit then it’s worth a fortune. We go on record as having discovered the door to another dimension. FRANKLIN Are you sure you copied everything? I mean, I would hate to find the other dimension only to find that we can’t get back. You’re sure this is the whole thing, right? Suddenly Neigh was questioning his self. But he didn’t want to let Franklin think he was worried. NEIGH It’s everything. Rule number one of finding an ancient map to the treasure chest, copy both sides. They laugh, high five. DISSOLVE TO: INT. LONDON – NIGHT Sitting at Neigh’s desk, Sayge is busy reading about Stonehenge on the computer when she notices the ancient book. She closes Neigh’s laptop, takes the book and goes to the couch where she snuggles in, covers her long legs with a throw, and begins reading the book. She falls asleep. FADE TO: EXT. STONEHENGE – NIGHT Neigh and Franklin getting out of Neigh’s car at Stonehenge. Neigh looks to the night sky where the alignment of Jupiter, Venus and the crescent moon create a crooked sort of smiley face. Neigh has the flash light, and his copy of the book. He and Franklin look at the book, and Neigh points. NEIGH Over there, c’mon. Let’s go. Franklin follows Neigh and then there are headlights as another car pulls up behind Neigh’s car. Out of the car emerges a woman. Franklin immediately moves toward the car. FRANKLIN Sheila, for God’s sake what the hell are you doing here? Dressed in hiking gear, the pretty blonde smiles. SHEILA What I’m doing here is making sure that I don’t miss out on this big event – even if it goes bust. Franklin looks embarrassed, and Neigh looks angry. FRANKLIN Let me explain. Sheila, this is my friend Neigh, Michael Neigh. Neigh, this is Sheila. Sheila is curator for Stonehenge. She’s the reason we got in here tonight. I had to tell her, dude. Without her, we wouldn’t have gotten near the place tonight. Franklin looks angry. Sheila smiles, and does her best sweet little girl pose. SHEILA Hey, don’t be mad at me. Look I brought snacks. She holds up her back pack. NEIGH Well, this isn’t a pic-nic. If this works, we don’t know what is going to happen. I don’t think it’s safe, and I don’t want you to go. SHEILA Looks less little girl and more authoritative. Well, you don’t have a choice. She holds up a cell phone. I make the call, and you boys are out of here. FRANKLIN I think we just bite the bullet, dude. She comes along, or we’re out of here. NEIGH I don’t like it. Neigh turns and goes to a specific stone. He looks at the night sky. Suddenly, the stone is illuminated by the light of the moon, and the reflection of Jupiter and Mars appears on the stone like an eclipse shadow. Looking closely, Neigh sees the stone take on the consistency of water hanging in the air. He can put his finger through it. He turns and looks at the other two. FRANKLIN Ladies first. He smiles sheepishly. Sheila tilts her head, hesitates a second, then steps inside the stone and disappears. Franklin follows her, and then Neigh steps in. DISSOLVE TO: EXT. A FORREST – DAY. As Neigh steps into the stone, he feels hands on his shoulder, pulling him down. It’s Franklin, he’s scared, there are scratches on his face. He is sweating. He puts a sweaty hand over Neigh’s mouth. Shaking his head, he doesn’t speak. Neigh shakes his head, yes, he understands. Franklin takes his hand away from Neigh’s mouth, points. Neigh’s eyes follow the direction of Franklin’s pointing finger. Franklin slaps his hand over Neigh’s mouth as he gasps, pulls him flat on his stomach. Neigh’s eyes dashing wildly from side to side, then he calms down. He nods again, he understand, and Franklin removes his hand. Franklin pulls his shoulder, indicating for Neigh to follow him. They move slowly, the brush is thick, sharp prickly b branches scratch Neigh. They move quietly staying low. They come to a place where Franklin stops. Neigh sees Sheila’s back pack, it is covered with blood. NEIGH (WHISPERING) What the fuck happened? Why is Sheila’s body hanging from a tree butchered like a pig? FRANKLIN I don’t know. I don’t know. There’s something out there. I don’t know what it is. I stepped through that stone right behind her, and by the time I got here, she was already like that. There must be some kind of time warp going through the stone. Man, what took you so long? NEIGH I was right behind you. FRANKLIN Man, it was just before dark when I got here. I saw her, man, only she wasn’t – she wasn’t like that. I wasn’t sure she was dead. I didn’t think, I couldn’t think, I just moved. Then I saw it – it – it started feeding on her.
