Running Head: Analyzing Math Websites Submitted by: XXXXXXX XXXXXX of XXXXXXX XX- XX- 2009 The four websites that have been chosen for this study are related to providing the students with a through knowledge of the theories and practical knowledge of mathematics. The websites that have been chosen are for students studying in middle school. These website follow the NCTM Standards for Numbers and Operations. Firstly the websites that have been chosen consists of two websites which are practical learning sources and two which are completely theoretical learning.

The sources of information that have been used in the websites have been able to rightly develop the course learning, and provide the students with easier and simpler techniques to learn the syllabus with keeping in track with the standards that have been set.The activities that have been included in the websites provide the students with a chance to understand the theories and then apply them to the practical problems. This is extremely essential as it widen the understanding of the students and also provides for a wider scope of bettered learning for the students.

It is a known fact a strong foundation leads to a stronger building. Similarly if the theories are strong and understood well, the children will be able to incorporate these learning into any scenario. This would allow for the students to achieve more rather than understanding just half of the techniques and then stumble over half way through the course. It is important to realize that the use of the internet has been at a high level of growth over the last few years. Children have started using the Internet at very young ages and this is now a growing trend in learning methods as well.

The lesson plans of schools can be well designed and can provide for students to work on the internet and participate in the various activities as a part of their lesson plans. It is important to also realize that children now prefer to use self learning tools to understand techniques better to a great extent. Thus providing the students with a brief explanation of the topics and then asking them to practice them online would prove to be very beneficial. For this schools can introduce new websites that would include their complete syllabus and provide the students with log in for these sites.

This will provide as a method of tracking the student performance and also provide students with a new, innovative and interactive technique of learning. Also the websites could provide for quizzes and competition among the classmates as well. This could be prove to be very beneficial to the entire class as it will not only improve their mathematics but will also provide students with the ability and confidence to use the Internet as well. This will also address the issue of lack of interactivity within the classroom and will increase the competitiveness of the students to a great extent.

The use of such websites for mathematics can be very beneficial for a number of classes. It is important to also understand that there are a number of students who detest mathematics and numbers.
