An indirect attack is generally used for wildland and ground fires that are large and very dangerous to come close to by using a direct attack. The manner in which this type of attack is employed is done by building a fire line along with the natural fuel breaks or within a safe distance from the fire (International Association of Fire Chiefs n.d.). The indirect attack is used when equipment and personnel are lacking and the fire is located at a rough and dangerous landscape that makes approach quite impossible (International Association of Fire Chiefs n.d.).
