The evaluation of a 15-week cognitive-behavioral skills training program for men involved in domestic violence against women demonstrated that there was a sharp decrease in the recurrence of the violent behavior in men completing the training program. In addition, in comparison to those who dropped out of the program, those who completed the training program demonstrated a lower rate of physical violence recidivism during the one year follow up period (Hamberger & Hastings, 1988).
