SAP HR Proposal Submit a detailed line-item budget showing total cost of the software, implementation, training, and maintenance for the first three years. Fully explain and justify all budget line items in a narrative entitled “Budget Justification.” Total Cost of Software $45,000 Implementation $40,000 Training $30,000 Maintenance $20,000 Budget Justification SAP R/3 will be installed through a comprehensive appraisal of the business environment. Project needs and requirements will be determined and calculated using a number of approaches.

The goal will be to provide a cost effective solution that can be used to accomplish organizational goals and targets. The above budget recommendation is based upon the needs and requirements of the organization. SAP R/3 costs are associated with a number of variables. The timeframe will determine the total costs of maintaining, implementing and training procedures. Another variable is the number of people and hardware which will be required for the entire project. 2. Describe how existing history is extracted and imported to your system at conversion.

Batch input is a major method to ensure the extraction and import of existing history. It is instrumental for transferring huge amounts of data (Rebstock & Knut, 45). The primary feature of this method is that it does not require maximum attention. Direct input is another method which is a modification of the batch input process. It helps to ensure efficient extraction and import of history. 3. Are there fees associated with converting history? There are no additional fees related to the process of converting history in the SAP R/3 HR Module.

The costs are included in the standard package that includes installation, configuration, and maintenance of the system. 4. Define the historical information your system maintains and how long it is available to your customers. Historical information is maintained in an efficient and effective manner by SAP R/3. This is done by integration with specific databases in the system. It can be used to ensure availability of data to clients for a long period. 5. Describe your applications employee self-service functionality.

What are the major features? SAP R/3 has a dynamic employee self-service functionality system. It improves productivity and output while creating a responsive system. Information accessibility has been significantly enhanced through this feature. The organization can reduce costs through the display of relevant and appropriate information. This creates a true paperless environment that eliminates the costs associated with paper (Hernandez, Martinez & Keogh, 56). Personal information about remunerations and bonuses can be accessed by employees.

Finally the system helps to streamline and automate the HR systems. 6. Describe your system’s ability to have customers “configure” the system vs. having you “customize” the system to meet their needs. SAP R/3 HR Module can generate a number of standard reports. The SAP EASY ACCESS menu can be utilized for that purpose. It creates a report tree that can be accessed by managers. Another dynamic feature is the Human Resources Information System which provides graphical data from the various HR processes in the organization.

Finally SAP Business Warehouse helps HR managers to make strategic decisions regarding organizational policies and procedures. 7. Define your system architecture, as well as hardware, and "other" software requirements. SAP system architecture consists of presentation server, application server, and database server. The presentation server executes a file called sapgui.exe on user screen. It exhibits the standard menus for the user. The application server is designed to understand ABAP/4 programs.

It integrates the input and output activities which are required during application execution (Lawlor, 123). The database server is associated with database requests originating from the application server. SAP R/3 can be integrated with standard operating systems like Microsoft Windows and Linux. It requires Pentium 4 at the minimum for hardware requirements. 8. Provide a description of your companys disaster recovery options. SAP R/3 HR Module offers a number of disaster recovery options that are based upon company needs and requirements.

The first option is to determine the number of SAP interfaces which would be used to ensure accessibility to master files. SAP R/3 also offers online and offline backup systems for protecting critical data. Full and incremental backup options are available for the business organization (Lawlor, 127). 9. How many concurrent users can your product support? The number of concurrent users for SAP R/3 is dependent upon a number of factors. It has an R/3 Ready-to-Run solution that rapidly installs SAP HR Module into organizational systems with minimum time and maximum reliability.

It can support an estimated 300 concurrent users in the system. 10. What network operating systems are supported? SAP R/3 HR module supports a number of proprietary and open source software. It provides extended support and integration with Microsoft Windows server operating systems. Further it can also be successfully deployed with UNIX and Linux operating systems. SAP R/3 can be integrated with several versions of Linux like Fedora and Red Hat. 11. What type of network does your web module utilize?

SAP R/3 HR module utilizes client-server network architecture to achieve its objectives and goals. It enables the deployment of several applications using this network architecture. Workload is allocated to different workstations on the network in order to achieve efficiency and effectiveness. Standard SAP applications, menus, and functions can be deployed to various computers.
