The Custody Officer also has to comply with the statutory regulations pertaining to the people in detention. He must ensure that the staff who deal with the detained person adhere to the code of practice regarding the treatment of that person. The code of practice entails that detained people should not be ill treated while in custody but should be looked after safely.
