Extract of sample "Alternative Work Arrangements"

Flextime is the arrangement where the employees report to work for a fixed number of hours which is not less than 50 percent of the required total for a day, say 5 hrs. It is after this that the employees chose the other time to continue working within the day or week to compensate for the deficit (Sharing 2010). This increases efficiency since employees do work at times of their choice. Job sharing is the other arrangement that can be adopted where two or more employees are to share the same job at different times (Sharing 2010).

This will enable employees to work in the sort of shifts one taking from where the other has left. Consulting is adopted where experts in certain fields like human resources need not report to the office but offer their advice when required (Sharing 2010). These are good ways to solve the highlighted issue although only the hardworking and good performing employees can be enlisted into the program (Sharing 2010). A pilot project needs to be conducted first to attest feasibility in our particular company context.
