Information was withheld in order to control perceptions and thus people. The first step in the creation of demand is awareness. A product cannot be successful in the market if the consumers are not aware that it exists. Therefore the importance of marketing in for any event or product cannot be negated. This aspect of marketing has totally been revolutionized by introduction of two key technologies. The first impact came with the introduction of air travel. This allowed people from developed countries to travel to any location in the world in matter of hours.

The second revolution has been achieved with internet. Online websites can provide you with virtual tours to different destinations in the world and give price packages to reduce cost. Although concepts of tourism have changed, the relationship of tourism with economic growth is still intact. For ages people have reaped benefits in economic growth because of tourism. Even today economies like Switzerland rely heavily on tourism for economic independence. Although for a very long time it was seen as a minor contribution to national economic development.

Today however tourism has taken over center stage. This is as mentioned because of the sheer increase in the number of people willing and able to travel abroad. After the recession and bad economies since 1970’s countries have started taking tourism as a major source of increasing exports. Moreover the increase in world population has over the years created severe problems for labor markets. Tourism is a labor intensive industry which includes and provides for professionals from many different sectors of the job market such as taxi drivers, restaurants, sweepers etc.

Therefore in the current global economic recession tourism and food are taken as an opportunity to improve both employment situation and increase exports. The importance of food in tourism is immense. There are very few basic needs of human
