But the reality is, I have matured as a result of this recent experience and feel more focused and prepared than ever to enter college. Any honest person that has been through a divorce will tell you that they learned a lot about themselves as a result of the divorce proceedings. I am no exception to this. Being more self aware is the greatest blessing I have received from this upsetting experience. That self-awareness is sure to be an asset to me as I enter college.
The benefit of having a bit of hindsight is that looking back on life experiences can help you to focus on what you want to become. Attending a good university is one further step in this process of self-discovery that began with my divorce. The road ahead is uncertain, because attending college will be completely foreign to me, but I can see how a better education will help me accomplish the goals and dreams I have placed before me.
