FREEDOM Davey looked out on the massive forest in front of him. It was truly beautiful. The leaves shone in the bright sunlight. He looked at his children playing in the nearby clearing. Everything was perfect. He was smoking a big cigar and enjoying it. He was also listening to small portable radio, listening to his favourite band Metallica. All of a sudden he heard a voice from behind him say, “Hey you!” Davey turned around and saw a park ranger. The man was very thin and had a large nose.

“Excuse me, sir,” said the ranger. “You are not permitted to smoke here.” Davey was taken aback. He looked at his cigar. “Why not?” “Sir, you know tobacco is illegal. You are not permitted to enjoy it anywhere. Im afraid youll have to come with me.” The ranger picked up a satellite phone and made a phone call to his office. Davey could hear him saying, “I might have trouble with this guy.” Davey stood up and charged at the ranger. He started punching. “What about freedom?

” he shouted as he punched. “Why wont you just let me enjoy myself here in the middle of nowhere?” “Sir,” said the ranger as he wrestled with Davey. “We have laws here. They must not be questioned.” As he wrestled with the ranger, Davey thought of all the little laws that had been passed in his lifetime. Each one added to the next, until the cumulative effect was nearly overwhelming. Although he was strong, Davey soon got tired. The ranger managed to reach his taser. Davey was tasered and dragged away to jail.
