Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet

What characteristic of the prophet that attracted Kevin most was the “humility and humanness” of the prophet (Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet). The influence of prophet Muhammed on Kevin James was so strong that he converted from Christianity to Islam. Kevin says that being a person of mixed-race-origin, he always felt he was separate from the mainstream society which made him feel a personal link with the prophet who in turn was an orphan (Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet).
The racism in America was depressive for Kevin James but once he was introduced to Islam, he felt relieved because Islam professed “universality” and did not care which race you are from (Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet). Kevin says that Quran is a text which “validates other religions…(and)…the diversity of mankind” (Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet). Another aspect of Islam which is dear to James is the code of righteous ethical conduct that Islam provides. Kevin had understood the greatest Jihad as one’s fight with one’s own ego and had internalized a major message of the prophet, namely, self-improvement. He had overcome his fear of public speech and started writing articles on issues of public interest with the sheer support of his faith in Islam.
For Jameel Johnson, Muhammed presents the best example of behavior to the whole world. Jameel also thinks that Muhammed is an example of how to follow justice without compromise when you are in a position of authority. Jameel Johnson thinks that a major lesson that prophet Muhammed taught humanity was that “ it is our duty to try to correct injustices in the world. Studying deeply the message of Islam and Quran, Jameel Johnson acquired more self respect and made it a habit to ask for one’s rights with confidence and educate others about their rights. Johnson has started coordinating the Friday prayer service on Capitol hill (Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet).

Anyone who has watched the 1976 film Network will agree that the movie was in essence as prophetic as it was meant to serve.
