The villagers become more intrigued by this spider woman because she has a story behind her being. The old man, the angel, was only interesting to look at for a while due to being a physical oddity, a sideshow attraction that the villagers were not used to. But staring at someone or something for so long can quickly become boring and lose its charm. The spider woman, on the other hand, had the ability to talk and explain her story.
