Admission Essay- Nursing A Swedish d, “Constant attention by a good nurse may be just as important as a major operation by a surgeon” (Quote Garden.com, “Quotations about Nurses”). It would not be wrong to state that the profession of nursing is one of the pillars of the field of medicine. The people who realize the importance of nursing can only do justice with their profession. I am proud to say that I am one of the individuals who are very passionate about the respective field of work.

I aspire to get admission in your esteemed institution to become a Registered Nurse. When children are asked about their aims for the future, one of the frequent replies is to become a doctor. I always chose the answer of ‘nurse’ upon the inquiry of future aims. This interest developed after gaining an indirect experience about the respective field through family members and friends who were a part of the profession. Their lifestyles showed me the level of commitment that is required to become a nurse.

The concept of being able to help people in their times of need seems very rewarding to me. In my opinion, the role of a doctor is important but occasional during the patient’s stay in the hospital; whereas a nurse has the opportunity to provide care and basic medical assistance to the patient throughout the day. It is not only medicine that heals a patient; kindness and compassion also seem to do wonders. My upbringing included the essence of humanitarian and social work. The monthly trips to the old shelter homes and orphanages made me witness the true side of life.

It made me realize the degree of responsibility that lies with the people who have more than the less privileged. This spirit of helping people grew into a passion for the field of nursing. It is one of the professions that can enable one to earn a living as well as contribute towards the welfare of the people. My experience in the orphanages made me come close to children and understand their pain. The love for children has developed into an interest of doing specialization in child care. Children love me since I handle them with care and kindness.

Children tend to dread their hospital trips even more than the adults therefore their experience needs to be full of surprises and gifts to make them cooperate during their treatments. My objective is to become an experienced and competent nurse to make a difference in the lives of the individuals. In my opinion, nursing is one of the few professions in which one might get to touch a life and be touched by another in the same day. History shows many instances where nurses emerged as the care takers of the society and made a difference in the daunting times.

My aim is to attain the sense of self-achievement by helping humanity through nursing. There lies a difference between performing one’s job for the sake of fulfillment of the job description and providing service with compassion. The difference between both of these services becomes very apparent in nursing. I shall prove myself as a kind and considerate nurse who shall adopt nursing as a profession as well as a means of social work. Another one of my aims is to become a valuable asset for your institution and to do justice with all the investment that will be done on me in terms of the efforts of my faculty members.

The curriculum of nursing in your respectable institution seems very promising and I aspire to learn useful things about the field of nursing from your qualified faculty members. References“Quotations about Nurses”, Quote Garden.com, Sep 9 2010, Web. 12 Nov 2010.
