[Your full full February 14, High Schools Do Not Adequately Prepare for College Introduction In today’s world, high school certificate is not enough for any individual to get a good job in any company. However, high school learning plays an important role in an individual’s career success as it strengthens the foundations of the students’ educational life. The dilemma is that most of the high schools lack the ability to prepare students for higher education. Some of those schools lack required resources whereas in some schools, the teachers are not skilled enough to build the concepts of students properly.

High school teachers must possess the ability to prepare high school students for successful transition to college level education. In this paper, we will discuss the factors, which make high schools unable to prepare the students for higher education. Why High Schools Are Not Able to Prepare Students? Lack of resources is one of those factors due to which most of the high schools are not able to prepare students for college. High schools, which do not have enough funds, are not able to pay competitive salaries to the well-experienced teachers.

Such schools hire fresh graduates or less-experienced teachers who agree to teach students even on low wages. Such teachers do not posses the ability to teach students in an effective way because they do not have enough teaching experience required to teach high school students. In some schools, there are no proper labs and technological equipment due to lack of available funds. Properly equipped labs and classrooms not only assist teachers deliver their lectures to the students but also help the students learn in an interactive environment.

“Teachers are not always successful at engaging their students when introducing lessons through typical lecture format” (Beam). However, teachers of such high schools where there is no interactive learning environment due to unavailability of computers, projectors, and multimedia technology, fail to involve students in the process of learning which consequently affects students’ learning abilities. Hiring of unqualified teachers is one of those factors, which adversely affect the performance of high schools.

Some schools hire such teachers who do not have the required level of competency to prepare minds of the students to go for higher education. A qualified teacher is one who should not only teach every aspect of the course to students properly but also should make students confident and motivated to take admission in college. Some high school teachers fail to strengthen the concepts of students whereas some teachers do not know how to motivate students to excel in their educational careers. Conclusion Although high school certificate is not enough for an individual to get professional success, still students need to get proper high school education in order to excel in their educational careers.

However, not all high schools are able to prepare students for college level education. There are a number of factors, which affect the performance of high schools. Some of those factors include lack of available funds, lack of proper equipment, and lack of qualified faculty. The administrative authorities of the high schools need to resolve all of the above-mentioned issues in order to make high schools prepare students for higher education in an effective way.
