Why I am Choosing Nursing as a Career.” The past decade of my life has seen me take up a variety of jobs, from construction to real e and mortgage! In all my experiences, one thing has become clear to me: it is the health of an individual, and the easy availability of skilled medical care, which ensures a good quality of life and happiness. This truth was further reinforced during the four months I spent as a part-time worker in a psychiatric ward. When I consider my strengths of being a good team player, a hard worker, a quick learner and, above all, my extroverted personality and love for people, I am convinced that nursing is the career best suited for my life.

There is no other profession I can think of which would give me the satisfaction of caring for people on a one-on-one basis, offering solace in a time of urgent need, and making their lives better on a personal, day-to-day, practical level. As the first member of my family to attend college, I realize that education is the best way to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in one’s chosen career path. The Nursing Program at Brevard Community College will be my first step towards becoming a skilled nurse.

I intend to go on to acquire the further qualifications required to ultimately serve as a Nurse Anesthetist. Being a full-time worker and supporter of my family, I am particularly attracted by the convenience of Brevard’s nighttime courses. I believe that a career in Nursing will give me the opportunity to do my own little part in making the world a happier place. At the same time, I will be in a profession which will let me engage in direct contact with people, and give me the satisfaction of making a tangible difference in alleviating physical pain.

As a nurse, I would be the human face of medicine. I can think of no better way to spend the rest of my life.
