Extract of sample "Animals and Food Chain of the World"

Indeed, humans have learned to raise animals for their personal consumption. Therefore, these animals’ purpose is for the nourishment of human beings. However, even if these animals are to be slain to serve as food, those who do the slaughtering must also take necessary measures so that these animals’ lives are taken at the most minimal pain possible. Perhaps it would be prudent to emphasize that this should be done only for animals that were actually raised for the purpose of being consumed.

Therefore, our moral code and ethics dictate that animals that were not raised to become food should, consequently, not be consumed. As for pharmaceutical tests being done on animals, I find this acceptable especially if the tests are done to explore ways that will save human life. However, if these tests are simply for aesthetic purposes, that is, for cosmetics and the like, then this is again in violation of our moral code.
