On the flip side it did play a role in bringing up tourism in the UK, which in turn brings revenue and thus helps in these economically tough times. I actually fail to understand why or how someone’s wedding, someone who is not related to you in any way and whose marriage does not have any effect on you in any way, can have such a huge following. It was quite disconcerting for me to see the throngs of people standing around, feeling excited just because some prince in a part of the world decided to marry a “commoner” (or anyone else for that matter).

This media hype, I feel, is created just to boost the image of the country and its tourism industry, so that revenue is made. This is not such a bad idea in itself, what irks me is this jumping on the bandwagon bit about the whole affair: because the media is calling it important, thousands of people think it is worth watching and worth waiting for.
