A resume is a very important personal document that can be used by people to apply for employment. In the past most people would either send a resumeby mail or they would deliver the resume themselves at the physical location of the company they were applying for. Today technology has facilitated the ability of people to send resumes. A technology that became mainstream in the 1980’s that can be used to send a resume is the fax machine (Ideafinder). The fax allows a person to insert the resume into the fax machine to then dial a number and within minutes the receiving fax prints a copy of the resume.

A second technology that gained popularity in the 1990’s as a method to instantly transfer information is the email. In an email a person can send a short message with the intent to apply for a job and the resume in Word format can be attached to the email. Emails allow for multiple attachments which can be used to send supporting documents and a cover letter along with the resume when applying for a job. A third technology that has gained a lot of popularity in the 21st century to send resumes is job searching websites.

The leader in the job searching website industry is Monster.com. This website allows job seekers to search for job opportunities.
