Article Critique I don’t agree that all people are equally mesmerized by the sight of a sexy hottie, be it a man or a woman. I believe that different people have different sexual aspirations. Not all men find women attractive nor all women want to have a man for sex. There are exceptions! Even within the general lot that is straight, people experience varying levels of sexual appeals. Some straight men are really intrigued to see a sexy woman, while other straight men don’t even give a second look. First of all, I totally disagree with the statement that eggs outnumber the sperms. All over the world, the population of girls is rapidly increasing whereas boys are not equal in number. This can particularly be witnessed in Asian and Arab countries where polygamy is a trend as well as a religious norm because if it does not happen, a lot of women are left unmarried. Again, effect of the image of an attractive woman upon a man depends upon the level to which he is sexually aroused by her. He may not at all be aroused, he may slightly be aroused and he may be passionate about the woman. Even the most passionate men do not necessarily make pro-war statements. Viewing such an image and making pro-war statements are two entirely unrelated variables. If some research found this trend, there must be quite a lot of confounding variables that would have been overlooked. I am not sure to what extent is the statement that health of an individual increases his/her likelihood to be returned the money or favor is true or false, though it might be so. Health of an individual may impress others, though its impact upon the individual’s likelihood of getting repaid seems odd. Nevertheless, I have personally witnessed that people tend to do unnecessary favors to women. Women are generally quite nice and polite in their mannerism. May be this is the reason why men like doing them a favor. Besides, this tendency of men may also have its origin in sexuality. Whatever the cause, I have witnessed several cases in my life in which I saw men doing favors to the women. This can also, in part, be attributed to the societal norm that women are to be respected. Since they belong to the weaker gender, a lot of men feel obliged to help them out when they are in trouble. However, this is a fact that good-looking people are generally liked by public and people tend to be flexible towards them in all aspects. I totally agree with the fact that gorgeous take-charge women inspire our opinions about the roles of women in the society. This is fundamentally because of the fact that women have conventionally been considered as a household property of men both in literature and media. Although women have shown up in numerous political events and have played an important role in earning women the rights they enjoy today, yet one can hardly locate a beautiful face among the women protagonists. There is no concept of beauty in the social protagonists because they have conventionally had only political significance. In such circumstances, when a woman who’s looks are otherwise admired for beauty and gorgeousness shows up in unexpected forums like political debates, strikes and conferences, it creates a spur among the admirers of beauty to promote her and help her out in the cause. This is the reason why Angelina Jolie was so liked for her performance in Tomb Raider. Women that have surfaced as fighters for the rights have conventionally had masculine looks. They were deprived of delicacy and many of them had strong muscular bodies like men. People have been frustrated to see masculine women leading the campaigns. This being the history, delicacy with power and courage impresses people, so that want to see more of that! People tend to develop an optimistic approach towards the assessments of hotties. This is true! Looks inspire us the most than all other traits because we are able to see beauty. Beauty appeals to human nature. We are born with the spur as well as tendency to appreciate beautiful things. I have personally witnessed this a lot of times in my life. In my childhood, I had an uncle in the neighborhood. He had too sons. They were twins. One of them, Tom, was very cute and adorable, whereas the other one, Bob, was average. Both were only two years of age when they did in a car accident. Their pictures kept being published in the newspapers for many days after the incident. I heard several people saying, “Oh, look at this one…He was sooooo cute! Who was that…Tom or Bob?” Someone replied, “Tha’ was Tom” Wherever I found people discussing the incident, I got to hear their remorse for Tom much more than for Bob, and none of them had any reason for specially feeling sorry for Tom than the fact that he was exceptionally cute. So I believe the findings of the scientists of the University of British Columbia. People are indeed, more sympathetic as well as generous towards good looking people. It is like beautiful women or handsome men are paid tribute for their exceptional looks in terms of leniency. I can’t find one reason why foxy faces should be favored. Slim and smart models do inspire us. The inspiration can be so much that some people’s diet plans and schedules get altered voluntarily or otherwise. People sense beauty in smartness and proceed towards attaining it. The pictures of models serve as milestones which looks-conscious audience wants to achieve. They feel motivated to attain the goals when they are visible on the page. It is equally true that a very minor population of the viewers actually manage to become slim. A vast majority of them end up becoming unnecessarily weight conscious. This article presented an insight to the latest researches in the field of psychology.
