The primary undertaking of the company is to enter into long-term capital-intensive investments to provide Abu Dhabi with strong financial returns and aggressive improvements in the city. On the other hand, Siemen, as an important member of the Masdar Institute has been instrumental in the process entailed by transformation. As a result, this paper endeavoured to seek the opinion of the standard-bearers of the two companies taking the helm of the economic diversification of Abu Dhabi. The views expressed by the Chief Operating Officers of Mudabala and Siemen have been instrumental in establishing a clear and in-depth view of the steps necessitated by the “Plan Abu Dhabi 2030: Urban Structure Framework Plan”. The interviews conducted will provide the readers with a comprehensive look into the economic progressive course that Abu Dhabi is currently undertaking.

Context has been defined as how people ascribe certain meaning to the information they obtain from their surroundings (Zakaria, 2006). Context is likewise deemed as the process by which people interpret and construe the facts appurtenant to the environment (Zakaria, 2006). The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has likewise played a major role in the economic growth of Abu Dhabi transforming the nation into one of the world’s leading gas and oil producer (Trent, 1995). However, aside from the income generated by oil and natural gas, the economy of the emirate has also been augmented by earnings coming from the exportation of pearls, metals and other minerals and the conduct of financial services (Davidson, 2009). However, due to the large dependency on oil and gas for the domestic economy and the concomitant exploitation of reserves in the past two decades, Abu Dhabi’s key officials saw it fit to implement policies aimed at the diversification of their economy (Golden, 2007). ...Download file to see next pages Read More
