My main objective for applying for a position at the college is to gain academic knowledge although I consider other knowledge and experiences that I will gain from the college to be of equal importance. According to the current honour, code academic issues have been given the first priority by being the focus. In particular, the academic concerns addressed in the document focus on the essentials of academic excellence.

The document mentions integrity and the following instructions as some of the necessities in academic excellence (Haverford College, web). These are excellent ideas. However, the Honor Code has an essential missing link that unites achieving academic excellence and the required basics. To be precise the Honor Code should also address how to achieve academic excellence based on the stated elements. The Honor Code should therefore illustrate the best approach that the students should follow to achieve the much-needed academic excellence based on the stated qualities.

Secondly studying at Haverford College will not be adequate without having a chance to interact with its wonderful community that is made up of students, nonteaching and teaching staff of the college. The current Honor Code touches on the issue of social integration among students and college staff as an important factor in the academic life of a student. The social concern section of the Honor Code defines how appropriate social relationships in the college should be established (Haverford college, web).

The section also highlights the importance of good relationships among college students and the importance of maintaining them. Although the issues considered in the document are important in enhancing good social relationships, the document does not evaluate the importance of a good relationship. I believe that students can only embrace good social relationships if they are aware of the values resultant benefits. The Honor Code should therefore focus on the importance of good academic relationships among students.

The Honor Code can achieve this by outlining the importance of good social relationships in the social concern section. Finally, ratification of the Honor Code is of importance to the students and the college, therefore the process should be considerate of the two parties. An improved Honor Code should have a ratification procedure with more options to give an equal chance to all students during voting. The section should increase the number of possible questions to accommodate the possible idea that the students may have.
