Extract of sample "Han Dynasty and Voices of Islam"

The Han Dynasty presented a number of practices that can be seen through the Islamic perspectives. The religious practice of the people of Han believed in the duality of the human nature believing that a human being was made up of the spirit-soul and body-soul. They also believed that when a human being dies, the spirit –soul goes to unite with higher spirits in the cosmos. A further practice that Han people practised so much was the offering of the sacrifices to the spirits in the name of giving appeasement to them.

These practices are in tandem with the practices and beliefs of the Islam religion that believes in a higher authority with angels and evil spirits called jinis. The use of art and literature was also an area of emphasis in the two religious groups as they used different artistic expressions and literature to teach each other about their faith and practices. The Islamic world has used different forms of art and literature to conserve and teach people about the religious practices that believed to hold the people together.

The ground of controversy which can be identified among the Han dynasty is the large number of spirits that they offered sacrifices to. Whereas the Islamic religion offered sacrifices also, it did not have as many spirits as the Han dynasty. Further, the belief in deity among the Han people was lowered to the emperor who was in some cases revered and worshipped just if he were a spirit.
