Sway 2006 - Movie Review Example

The movie commences with an eccentric family tragedy in which Takeru Hayakawa has differences with his father at his mother’s funeral. Takeru leads a splendid lifestyle in Tokyo where is a prominent photographer. However, his success tends to matter least when he returns to his hometown. Takeru’s late arrival and dressing during the burial irritate his father who reacts to his son’s conduct. The major reason for the difference between Takeru and his father is his failure to cooperate in conducting the family’s petrol business.

It is evident that the stiffness that Isamu Hayakawa has against his son, however, tends to emanate from deep the family’s historic occurrences but not the apparent conduct of his son at the burial. In an attempt to bring harmony in the family, Minoru presents the Fujicascope project to his young brother Takeru. In addition, he gives him a home movie taken by their mother at a young age. The rift between the two brothers further widens after Takeru’s resolution to seduce Chieko, his hometown former girlfriend (Poe 1).

Chieko is an employee at the family’s business.The desire to have the camaraderie of the two brothers grow better than at the beginning leaves the viewers eager to follow the events and create suspense in the movie. The photography in the movie is attractive with the beautiful colors and lighting schemes that keep viewers on the screen. The movie is superb for its clear camera work. The editing and composition are exclusively great.
