Marie Winn and Thomas BentonIntroduction Human behavior derives inspiration from incentives. In this case, individuals will engage in diverse behaviors (dependent clause) as they focus on the ultimate pleasures and rewards. This is an evident principle in the articles of analysis. Marie’s and Benton’s essays have a clear indication of the principle that lies within human behavior. They exhibit numerous agreements and contradictions in their implications within the essays. Nevertheless, the universal principle of behavior in Psychology is evident in both essays.

Behavior is prospective to recur if it has ultimate rewards and pleasures. According to Benton, students identify self-indulgence as a reward of their daily habits. However, these undesirable habits have a long-term negative consequence. The students will identify the immediate rewards of the “sins.” These rewards act as sources of inspiration for the habits. For instance, sloth is a common sin, which is an amusement (non-restrictive phrase) amongst college students (Benton, 1). This is according to Benton’s essay.

Students will identify the pleasure of procrastination for their academic assignments. They replace the academic time with leisure. This behavior recurs amongst the students across their life in school. Sloth is a form of addiction (Independent clause). A direct link is observable with Marie’s implication in TV addiction. Individuals will choose television leisure in place of constructive engagements (Connelly, 199). This is due to the promising pleasure attained from (preposition) television sets.

Evidently, addiction is evident in both Benton’s and Marie’s perspectives. Individuals will repeat unwanted behaviors to attain an incentive or pleasure. Nevertheless, the two articles have a major difference in emphasizing behavioral consequences. Marie implicates that addictions are not necessarily harmful. They are just dependent behaviors within the human system (Connelly, 199). Benton views the “sins” as harmful addictions towards academic performance (Benton, 1). Conclusion Marie and (conjunction) Benton have a key similarity in exhibiting the impacts of addiction.

It is the basic attribution of behavioral recurrence. However, Benton presents addiction as entirely harmful while Marie implies that it is not necessarily harmful. Both authors capitalize in a psychological principle for their propositions. This principle implicates that pleasure and rewards enhance behavioral recurrence.
