One’s family is the main influence in the development of their political orientation, particularly due to constant relationship between the child and his or her parents (Varkey 24). Schools are second to the family because of the child's prolonged exposure to many political beliefs, such as teachers and friends, both of which are respected sources of information for children. Politically active neighborhoods, on the other hand, produce politically active citizens, unlike politically inactive neighborhoods.

Religious factors, as well as race, have a very strong impact on an individual’s political views (Varkey 24). For instance, Protestants seem to be more traditional in nations where Protestants are not the majority. Another notion is that income affects the political views of some people. Low income people are more concerned with politics in the sense that they want to enhance their lifestyles, unlike high income families. Also, political affiliations are created through historical events, for instance, when a child learners about the world wars of the 1900s, they tend to form their affiliations of the nations they think were right (Varkey 24).

I, for instance, support the capitalism movement, due to the fact that they emerged the winning side after the world wars. Capitalist states are also more influential when compared to socialist nations. Therefore, I tend to affiliate myself with such regimes.
