Extract of sample "How University Life Will Change the Current State of Things"

There are a number of reasons why I believe I should be accepted in university and how university life will definitely improve the current state of things. First of all, I have various talents and skills. The first of these is my skills in communication, of which I am very proud. I also possess leadership skills and a sense of initiative. In fact, as part of my extracurricular activities in high school, I was able to initiate some programs and shows in our school but mostly stage plays that did not concern anything except everyone’s acting abilities.

Another thing I can share with my fellow students in the university is my Christian beliefs, of which I believe I am a good example. In fact, compassion and concern for others is my motto in life. I always find time for those who need me and who seek my advice when it comes to anything that concerns them. This is the part of me that I would always like to share with my future classmates and friends in university. Moreover, the university is an opportunity for me to improve myself. When I was in high school, I focused so much on extra-curricular activities and socialization, thus I had to sacrifice academic performance at times.

However, I wanted to change this habit of not putting much effort into my education by changing my perspective and hopefully get all A’s in all my subjects in university. I am also pretty confident that the university is an avenue for me to push myself to the limits in terms of classroom performance, and I would gladly welcome this new change into my life. I also expect that the university will change me for the better in terms of personality and when it comes to my approaches to life. Most of my high school, I utilized informal ways to accomplish my purpose.

For example, I did not learn how to set appointments with school officials nor did I know how to write formal letters for invitations and requests especially those intended for high-ranking officials of the city and of the school. My goal in university, therefore, is to learn formal approaches to communication. I am therefore confident that with my desire to accomplish things using the formal approaches, I will be able to accomplish so much academically and I will be able to prepare myself for professional life.

I also expect that the university will change my outlook and philosophy in life. I spent my high school life on mostly trivial things that involved only socializations, competitions, gatherings, parties, and similar activities. Although these taught me the value of camaraderie, unity, and cooperation, they did not instill independence in me nor the value of solitude and introspection. This is therefore what I am expecting the university will change in me. I am expecting that the university will teach me the value of independence and self-reliance but naturally not to the point of having to avoid others.

The point is that the university is where I believe I should start rethinking my goals for my future career and realign my direction in life.
