States at that time allowed segregation and separation of whites from non-white children in school (Baum and Flores, 2011). However, with time and civilization being embraced, it was time for this practice to change. The constitution of America had to honor the Fourth Amendment Equal Protection Clause. The clause stated that no person should be denied the equal protection of the law, as long as a person is within its jurisdiction. This meant that even the non-white immigrants had a right to equal education opportunities, quality teaching and maximum benefit of resources, which was not possible with the wide segregation of white and non-white school going children.

This decision of allowed segregation was thus overruled in Brown V. Board of Education in 1954, where the Supreme Court ruled that segregation and separation, especially in public schools was unconstitutional. All children were entitled to equal education irrespective of their social class, being a Caucasian or an immigrant (Bichrest, 2010). To effectively answer the above question, the different social classes in America shall be analyzed, and a brief description of the immigrants in America shall also be provided.

Afterwards, an evaluation shall be drawn combining the two aspects above in order to see whether the educational opportunities that one gets in America are affected by social class, and whether it they are the same for the children of first generation immigrants. America is a nation whose people have different incomes, different living standards and different backgrounds. Many scholars refute the fact that there is no social class differentiation in America, but others argue that the different abilities to acquire services, the different educational abilities and the different living standards and conditions are themselves an un-doubtable indication of class differences (Carlson and England,
