Personal and Professional Development By Personal and Professional Development Self-managed learning involves the self-mobilization of all the resources involved in the learning process. These resources range from the financial resource, the time resource and the materials needed to run the training process. Self-managed training instills in the students the proper self-management abilities that range from time management, decision planning and making that helps one be a well-groomed person in the daily lives. The most important aspect in life is the aspect of self-management that makes the individual a well-managed person with a developed personality. The management decisions of the learning process need to balance between the teacher and the student. Some decisions keep revolving in the whole process. Some of the decisions will come from the teacher who guides the student while some will originate from the student since they involve the personal values and what the student will feel needs inculcating in them. Although these decisions balance between the teacher and the student, some will entirely lie in the teacher’s hands. These may involve decisions with the study curriculum, low structure tasks lie in the student’s decision line and they may have the student rely the decisions basing on the teachers guidance. Three essential dimensions need involvement in all the aspects of training and self-management. These are planning, implementation, and the evaluation processes (David, 1996, p.3). Lifelong learning process stems from a system that develops in the student from the learning stage. Evidence to this determined by how the student handles and controls his activities and decisions during the learning process. The planning process runs and develops as the student grows and the time this person takes to depends on the level of experience and personal controls of life. Life continues in the series of learning processes that only end when one decreases from the world. The learning process continues and so the need to develop a person in life features and the needs that they may have on their life and planning. 1.1. Evaluate Methods To Self- Managed Learning. Self-managed learning is about the individuals managing their own learning. This involves dealing with taking responsibility for decisions in their learning processes. This involves the decisions of what they learn, when they do the learning, how they do learn and where they learn. The most fundamental of them being why they learn that leads to the answers that give the student their quest. This involves the students deciding the learning goals and objectives that help the students have a sense of direction (Ian, Graham & Ben, p.88). Several methods to self-managed learning exist and these are the different learning, group learning or the use of a tutor that guides the students on what to do. The person learning involves the student finding the reading materials and concentrating on the work that gives them the upper hand in the management process of the learning process. Therefore, this self-managed approach runs through the whole time and gives the students authority to make the decisions that involve the student and his learning. The group approach involves the student engaging in the learning process through a group that might have the same objective in the full course. These objectives may include the learning goals and objectives that the students want to achieve in the end. The student works with the group and does work together as a group to achieve the final goal, which could span from educational success, attainment of knowledge and the understanding of the different aspects involved in the teaching. The teacher approach, also referred to as the tutoring approach, involves the student getting a tutor to offer either part time or fulltime teaching services. In this approach, the decision making process balances from teacher to student and they involve the decisions associated with the learning material and those that are associated with the time and management of learning. The teacher guides the students through the material then the student learn the material and then an exam or test may follow that will judge the students learning experience. This is the best approach based on the experience of the student to understand easily. Based on the above, the student will engage all the self-learning methods of group, individual and tutor. The students plan of developing into a marketing consultant is much more easily achievable if the use of these three methods is associated. The use of groups will help the student understand what they have not understood well from class or even learn something new that they may not have got chance to reach but may have been reached by other students. The teacher approach will help provide a mentor aspect that is useful in this development process. 1.2. Propose ways in which lifelong learning in personal and professional context could be encouraged. Lifelong learning in personal and professional context can develop in many ways. These could involve the use of mentors, encouraging the aspect in children and letting it grow over years. Self-motivation is referred to as the driving force to lifelong learning of an individual (Tom & Mike, 2004). 1.3. Evaluate the benefits of self-managed learning to the individual and organization. There are several benefits of the self-managed learning to an individual; these involve the simplification of the learning process and making it possible to blend learning with other processes and activities. Self-managed training is ideal in a situation where a person wants to pursue educational goals at the same time working in other different fields. These could be working in the employment sector and at the same time attaining educational needs. This system of education is important in the higher levels of education. Financial advantage gained is a benefit we cannot ignore. This saves resources for it could weigh cheaper compared to the ordinary system of learning. This depends on the needs of the student and their goals. To an organization, this system of training helps them have their employees continue in their educational pursuit at the same time still working in a business where they serve. The company manages to retain the abilities of the person and at the same time, the person attains their goals too. The company may also use this system in the training and development of their employees with a need to develop a skill or specific information in them. The system simplifies the work and leads to the attainment of the overall goal of the business. 2. To be able to achieve and continually review own personal and professional development plan For the developer to implement own personal and professional development plan it needs a keen approach involves the development of routine activities and the irregular activities. Identification of the two and their development is vital in the achievement of the set objectives of becoming a marketing consultant. Proper planning of time and available resources is the first item of vital necessity. The user developed a plan for distribution of the resources well to fit the schedules for achievements to count in the end. The implementation involved the rating of activities and putting the schedules based on the self-learning process selected. I also approached the group aspect by joining a discussion group of four that share a similar objective. It has been backed by correlation of the discussion programs for the group members. The achievements are because of the group members taking time to plan for the whole process based on the common objective that is to achieve the best marketing skills and qualify as a marketing consultant by the year 2016. The plan is then continuously being implemented and monitored on a regular basis to ensure that we the group members achieve our objective. Short-term reviews are involved in our activities to see the direction that I and my group members are talking and help review our objectives as we continue in our quest. The long-term review is on a yearly basis to see how far my mates and I have gone with our pursuit. While the short term basis review is slated for monthly review of the progress. 2.1. Discuss the processes and activities required to implement the development plan. Planning, scheduling and review of the entire process are key to good performance. The planning phase has helped me actualize on what the intentions involve and how they are being attained. The activities performed in the learning process included the development of a curriculum, the mobilization of the resources that include textbooks and the attendance of the training. The books come from a public learning facility and some I acquired them while supporting them with online resources. The scheduling process then followed. It involved the allocating of time to each activity and then ensuring that ample time planned is utilized efficiently. The scheduling process helped determine the outcome of the process of learning that is evident from the regular reviews that mark the last process. The review gives me a picture of the progress, what I need to add or remove from my program and activities while focusing on the final goal. 2.2. Undertake and document development activities as planned. The development activities include the development of a reading culture that keeps changing based on the performance and the plan, the scrutiny of the reading material is something I do regularly to select material to add I then select the material carefully based on my needs, the consumption of the material follows and finally the evaluation of the whole process. The evaluation helps me identify what I have attained. 2.3. Reflect critically on own learning against original aims and objectives set in the development plan. Individual learning is a viable initiative that depends on the individuals’ determination and the goals and objectives of the process. The aim and purpose of the training is to help me become a marketing consultant. The plan encompasses the attendance of online lectures and the reading of the online material to help improve skills and information. This is only possible since I am committed to the process and sacrifice time and other resources to obtain the final goal. No guarantee that this will work like I plan but I still have to remain focused. I allocate my time effectively, efficiently and economically and finally, I have to stick to the plan my dedication matches my results. 2.4. Update the development plan based on feedback and evaluation (my on one, a feedback on myself) Based on the feedback on this plan, the use of online resources is more efficient for the development of the relevant skills for one to qualify as a well-developed marketing consultant. Online resources are readily available with limited congestion. Since they are accessible anywhere, the environment chosen will accelerate the consumption process and the level of understanding of the material. Part II of the essay deals with personal and professional plan and it should say about my personal professional development plan not about it generally.
