WE 5 AL &WE Response CRJ 545 WE 5 AL &WE Response CRJ 545 New Techniques in Enhancing Latent Fingerprints on Metal SurfacesThe paper highlights a tremendous discovery in the process of gathering evidence. Evidence gathering and presentation has been instrumental in success or failure of various cases around the world. Initially, the recovery of latent fingerprints has led to the failure of several cases. The failure has been due to lack of clarity, unclear information, and distortion. The new technology that relies on electrostatic energy and magnetic powder will help in easy conclusion of cases.

Moreover, the discovery may help in conclusion of cases that have lagged for decades as well as correction of wrongful convictions.Impressions as EvidenceIt is clear that gathering enough evidence is the goal of any investigator. However, this cannot be achieved when an investigator(s) overlook some of the evidence such as impression evidence. Such evidence can help in identification of the perpetrator of any crime. For example, such kind of evidence may help in identifying the number of perpetrators and the place of entry and exit of the perpetrators.

However, the impression evidence may exhibit some weaknesses. For example, even after gathering such evidence it will only be useful if the perpetrator is available for comparison purposes. EvidenceThe paper helps in highlighting various types of evidence that can be made available in the trial processes. The different types of evidence play a significant role in conviction or acquittal of the accused. One of special interest is the forensic evidence. I have realized that the forensic evidence requires strict handling before it is admissible in any trial process.

Any mishandling of the evidence can lead to a person that is guilty being set free. Therefore, extra caution and attention is required when handling this type of evidence.Interview with a Real CSIThe interview highlights a number of things in the collection and presentation of evidence. The interview has also highlighted several issues for a person that wants to pursue a career in crime investigation needs to know. First, the interview helps in showing the importance of science in conviction or acquittal of a person.

For example, DNA technology has played a significant role in the trial of various cases. I have also realized that experience plays a significant role in relevance and collection of evidence. Moreover, it is clear that the medical examiner plays a crucial role in unraveling of murder cases. The Anatomy of a Latent Print ExaminerThe paper plays a role in highlighting the essence of incorporating the traditional and modern ways of gathering and analyzing evidence. The latent print examiner has simplified the analysis of fingerprints.

However, it is clear that the recent development is also faced with some challenges when it comes to analysis. As a result, the examiner needs to go through adequate preparation to have enough skills. The paper also highlights the need for a fresh graduate to go through some mentorship program before being allowed cases to conduct alone. Such form of preparation will help in avoiding dismissal of evidence before any trial court.Teri DeWitt InterviewIn this interview, it is clear that the position of a forensic investigator requires someone with experience and a good education background.

This has also been a preference of most of the agencies in the police departments. On the other hand, it is clear that resolving cases of murder and burglary pose some challenge to most of the forensic investigators. In addition, it is clear than any piece that is found in a crime scene is good to collect, as it may be relevant to the case being handled.
