What Is Information Power in Communication - Essay Example

Power in communication can take different forms. Individuals communicating on a regular basis tend to exercise this power over their counterparts depending on the situation at hand. Information power is just one example of power that most people use in order to get ahead of their counterparts (Littlejohn and Foss 124). This is regardless of whether they are in school, at work, or at home. It is my belief that information power gives an individual an upper hand when it comes to relaying and presenting facts rationally and sensibly.

 Leaders need to communicate with their staff and employees on what needs to be done in order to stay ahead of the pack in terms of market shares, profit gains, and product innovation. All these require the power of information (Littlejohn and Foss 126). It is, therefore, vital for managers to exercise this power firmly and with discretion in order to achieve all organizational objectives.
