Population affects career trends given that people of different ages, gender and, education have varying demands of goods and services. On this, people are able to outline what jobs fall on the path for them to satisfy their demands. (5) Politics and economic factors outline policies that direct the flow of goods and services in the market and inflation factors that affect hiring rates. (6) Life roles apart from being employed people play other roles in life e.g. parenting, student, or childhood.

How we think about them may influence how we look at careers in general and how we make choices in our lives (All-Star Directories, 2011).The above factors are important in career trends, especially in the hospitality industry. The hospitality industry is a day-to-day industry requires skilled and trained personnel to be involved. Economic globalization in this industry, where people of different cultures need our services, provides room for career growth in linguistics. New technology brings about more skilled personnel to embrace it in the industry (Jitendra, 2008).

It creates career growth for persons to take a career path in adopting the new technology in this industry. Demographics here means that more people will have a high demand for our services. Social trends in philosophies influence peoples’ habits. It opens new doors, for example, emphasis on living a healthy life or taking rest will make people look for hotels where these factors are essential. Careers will be open for people to learn how philosophies affect the industry (Jitendra, 2008).

There are a number of career trends in the hotel with predictable outcomes. First is where employers are raising the educational bar. This has made many colleges that use traditional hand-on to offer degree programs as a drive to professionalism in the industry. Advanced technology training is doing away with traditional approaches to learning. Employees are updating their skills using the media and online platforms. There is a good salary that pays for employees in the industry. This attracts well-skilled personnel, motivates them, and, retains them for long (Penton Restaurant Group, 2014).

According to Soultana (2012) several factors are likely to affect a career in the future including; ineffective leadership, arising challenges/opportunities, poor human relations, improved technology, wages compensation and benefits and, downsizing and reconstructing. In the hotel industry, these factors are likely to bring changes attributed to the adaptation of good human relations, measures to deal with new opportunities and challenges, more training to employees to adopt new technology, the satisfaction of employees from high wages leading to high outputs (Tejal, 2007).

Employees are an important asset of every business and the company should take them seriously where training and development is an important part to be taken into consideration. A conclusion from the article in relation to the hotel industry is drawn. The future of this industry needs more skilled personnel with extended managerial skills. Employees’ relations should be conducive. It also shows that advanced skills are to be trained to people following the hoteliers’ path to adopt new technology.

In addition to employee training, monitoring should also be taken into consideration (Algonquin College, 2014). By monitoring the key weak points of employees, an organization will be able to come up with effective measures of addressing these weaknesses.
