Extract of sample "Why I Want to Graduate Economics Program"

One of the main reasons why I gained interest in the undergraduate economics program is the crucial importance this discipline has in the world today. From a broad perspective, economics is one of the most essential elements in the functioning of the modern world today. One can easily see the value of economics by analyzing different societies in relation to their economic stability.  I have a keen interest in both micro and macroeconomics due to the diversity in these disciplines as well as their real-life significance, and I wish to venture in this field professionally.

My life has taught me many lessons as I was able to mature both as an individual and a student. In the first two years of college, due to financial issues, I was distracted from studies and my results did not reflect my true potential. However, I began to realize that instead of being distracted, I held the key to my future. I became more focused and goal-oriented. I created a scheme whereby I set targets for myself that would help me monitor my progress. Eventually, I was able to raise my gpas from 1.8 to 3.8.

Hence, I feel I can apply this attitude and mentality anywhere in life and I hope to use it to excel in my economics program.
