After the promotion, he was satisfying the Psychological needs in that he had built strong working relations from his hard-work and the promotion brought about prestige and a feeling of accomplishment (Koontz and Heinz 289). The prestige came in when he was told to let the young bucks to work on the new job and also he gets a yearly bonus apart from having three-week vacation paid. Why doesn’t Sam Baxter understand Smith’s problems (needs)? Do they communicate with each other well? Sam Baxter doesn’t understand Smitty’s problems because he feels that Smith should feel the best way ever since his salary had been increased and lots of responsibilities had been reduced.

Baxter doesn’t have the exact feeling Smitty working so closely with the crew and being taken away from them would not make things remain the same again for him.Predict how productive Smith will be if he remains with the company as the Assistant Superintendent. If Smith remains with the company has the Assistant Superintendent his productivity will drastically reduce. This will happen because his loss of stature made him lose interest in the job making him opt to quit the job.If you were Sam Baxter, what should be done about the situation?

If I was Sam Baxter I would rationally argue out the issues around the uncomfortable state of Smith about the promotion. After we have meditated about the issues I would let Smith be free and continue working with the crew as he was doing before but keeping his salary raised. How would you handle the situation if you were assigned to a position at which you are not skilled? If I was assigned to a position have got no skills, I would like to be oriented and trained in the same line to gain the basic knowledge of the position’s operations.
