Electronic Technology Outline: Introduction: Electronic devices are massive used for the residential as well as industrial purposes. The major important aspects of electronic devices are fast operation, easy operation, automation, precision, comfort and reliability. Importance Electronic technology is important not only for industries but also for residential units. Electronic technology is utilized for fast operation. Relays were previously used in industries but relays have longer switching timings as compared to that of transistors. Opto-coupler transistors have switching speed as fast as speed of light. Electronic technology is massively used for logical operations. PLCs are massively used in industries for logical operations. Microcontrollers are also used in various devices for the logical operations. Electronic technology enhanced energy efficiency with the passage of time. With the use of delicate industrial sensors massive units of energy are saved. VFDs in industries are designed to save energy and give optimum control functions of motors. Electronic technology is massively used in telecommunication for the switching and amplification of the signals. Future stands with the electronic technology. Conclusion Electronic technology is massively used. It gives fast operation, precise operation, energy efficiency and better controllability of various operations. Introductions With the invention of vacuum tubes, electronics was considered as different field of study. As the world is progressing, the demand for the fast devices is rapidly increasing. The demand is such wide spread that everyday dozens of electronics manufacturing companies develop newer versions of the products are faster than the previous models. On the other hand, the space requirement for the electronics is really low. Some devices require very low maintenance and yet attain high efficiency, other have linear maintenance to efficiency graph. Home appliances like television, CD/DVD player, microwave, etc use advanced electronics for various purposes. Moreover, electronics and computer technology have deep relation. Computer controlled applications like in various industrial use electronics for precise and fast operation. Industrial applications always try to attain maximum efficiency with respect to input power. Fast operation in industry save much of the electrical units and enhances the efficiency through mass production and precision. Importance Electronic technology is of huge importance. The importance of electronics in industrial operations can never be neglected. On the other hand, modern surgical and medicine fields also use electronics for precision, accuracy and fast operation. Moreover, in the modern world, every thing is controlled through sensitive electronics for various purposes. We are unable to attain weather forecast without the use of electronics in the satellite system that enables it to capture high resolution images and then transmits it earth station. On the other hand, vehicles are installed with ECU (Engine control units) electronic cards to control the engines functions. Power transmission and generation system use electronics to control the power transmission and generation. Industrial units use delicate electronics for precise and fast operation (Gibilisco, 2006). Fast operation The basic purposes of electronics in most of the industrial units in fast switching, amplification, oscillation, filtration of unwanted signals, bits storage, etc. Industrial applications require fast switching for precise and fast operation. It is the basic strategy to increase the productivity and reduce the cost of the product. With the invention of transistor, the operation became very fast, as relay logic was previously developed for the industrial application. Relays may have switching time as less as 100 milliseconds; however, transistors have switching time as lass as 10 nanoseconds that makes transistors best for faster operations. With the advent of transistor’s functionality, even faster transistors were invented for the industrial and satellite operations. An opto-coupler transistor switches as fast as the speed of light (Horowitz, P& Hayes, 1989). Logical operations Electronic technology is massively used for logical operations. In most of the industrial application programmable logic controllers (PLC) are used for the logical operations. PLCs use the transistor-transistor logic (TTL) for logical operations. PLCs recognize a computer based ladder logic program that can be entered into the PLCs CMOS chip many times. Relay logic was considered suitable before PLCs. It was sometimes difficult to manage and require difficult work to change the logic. Relay based logic is slower as compared to the PLC based operations due to the slower operation of relay and faster operation of transistor. PLCs are now commonly used in industries and power generations and transmission systems (Erickson & Maksimovic, 2001). Energy efficiency Electronic technology enhanced energy efficiency by cutting down the use of high energy equipment for industrial and power applications. In almost energy industry, PWM based variable frequency drives (VFD) are utilized. VFDs work as motor controllers in almost any desirable manner. VFDs are designed to reduce the torque load current of motor, prevent motor current fluctuation, enable motor safety and line safety. Constant current enables the devices to take constant current that helps in increasing the energy efficiency of the motor (Bimbhra, 2012). Power Transmission monitoring Electronic technology is used to monitor the power distribution and enables the operator to alter the power distribution patterns with a single click of a mouse of a small push button. On the other hand, transmission systems are equipped with various sensors that send data back to the power station. For example one of the sensor in the power distribution line how much current the line is drawing, if the current remains constant, the power generation system sends constant current, if currant varies round the clock, the access power is either diverted to another path or power generation in slowed to conserve energy (Ramo, Whinnery & Van Duzer, 2008). Electronics and Telecommunication Telecommunication and electronic technology are related to one another. In electronic technology RF (radio frequency) is utilized at various phases too send and receive data. With the help of electronic technology, the rate of data transmission and reception can be monitored in telecommunication technology. Antennas are designed with the help of electronic technology and in mobile communication system, base stations (BS) and are equipped with various types of high frequency amplifiers, filters and oscillators to enhance the signal strength and transistor-transistor logic (TTL) is used for the logical operations (Erickson & Maksimovic, 2001). How electronic technology is the future With the fast pace of research diverted towards the development of the electronic technology, we will see that electronic technology is the future of the world. Electronic technology is going heaper day by day. In the near future every wall will have a microcontroller that will control the temperature, lights and oxygen balance in the room according to the mood of a person. Sensitive electronic sensors will sense the body temperature, humidity and oxygen levels in the home. Industrial operations can be controlled and monitored wirelessly from far away with the use of internet based protocols, remote terminal units and communications units (Gibilisco, 2006). Conclusion Electronic technology is used massively around us. Alternate resources like solar photovoltaic energy can only be utilized with the help of electronic devices such as charge controllers, battery chargers and inverters. An inverter converts DC voltages in AC voltages. Solar Photovoltaic panels produce DC voltages, thus it is important to utilize inverters. In the similar manner industrial applications require VFDs and PLCs for power transfer and logic operations respectively. Both VFDs and PLCs are electronic devices that would have never existed without electronic technology. In the communication systems, signal boosters utilize amplifiers and oscillators. Amplifiers and Oscillators are electronic devices. In the similar manner televisions, CD/DVD players, microwave ovens, etc utilize electronics for various operations. References Bimbhra, P. S.
