Acknowledgement I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to everybody that made my success especially in completing my thesis possible. First, my overwhelming thanks goes to Dr. X. Dr. X has been more than a friend to me. You have been with me in every step of the way in completing my Master’s thesis. At the beginning, I was unsure of my ability to work on a Master thesis because I felt inadequate academically. However, you gave me the courage and promised to help me all the way.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to ask many questions every time I encountered a problem. In my heart, your encouraging words “what does not kill you makes you stronger” will always remain. Although I have finally triumphed in my thesis, I will apply your principles in other areas of life as well. A piece of my heart goes to post doc for her invaluable support during lab sessions. I would like to thank you greatly for your warm-hearted support both within the academia and as a personal friend as well.

You took me like a sister and guided me throughout my lab sessions. You indeed quenched my desire to learn more by gladly answering my everyday questions. May almighty God bless you for your help both within and outside my undergraduate studies as well. Although you may not remember, my epiphany moment with you was when you told me to read widely in order to have a broad understanding of knowledge in my thesis. This eye-opener happened when I was almost giving up on literature review part. I was able to compete the literature review part despite the challenges.

If I had only one chance to dance, I would choose to dance it with you.I take this opportunity to pass my warmest regards to our collaborators from another university. It is interesting how the collaborators were willing to assist not only me but other students as well. You took time to provide a well-articulated response to my questions. I particularly liked the way you responded to my questions promptly. Indeed, I will apply the same promptness in other facets of life. I would like to acknowledge the support of my committee members for ensuring a smooth running of the institution.

Your support made learning and completing my thesis not only a dream come true but in the best environment possible. The academic journey of studying abroad has not been simple. Completing a Master’s program as an expectant mother and in a country away from home was overwhelmingly difficult but worthwhile. Taking care of my daughter, my pregnancy, and academics was not an easy ride. However, the entire university fraternity gave me the help I needed to do it all. Coming from a relatively warm climate region, studying abroad was marked by chilling cold weather.

I often had to wear heavy clothes because of the chilling temperatures. Perhaps the lowest point in my life abroad came when I experienced a health problem in second year of my Masters. A health problem, chilling weather, pregnancy complications, a daughter to take care of, and a difficult thesis ahead of me almost overwhelmed me to a point of giving up in life. Although I would wear a happy mask during the day, I sometimes used to cry at night and pray to God for courage to pull it through. The challenges of studying abroad have taught me to fight like a wounded tigress.

I have finally succeeded not because I did not make mistakes but because I failed a thousand times and a thousand times, I rose up stronger and better. I would like to pass special thanks to my dear husband and my lovely daughter for their unending love and support during my studies abroad and supporting my family when I was away. Ultimately, I give all the glory and honor to God for giving me this golden opportunity and most importantly, giving me the strength and courage to face all the challenges.
