Community Service: Safeguarding ChildrenAs a reliable member of the global community at large, I majored on a project concerned with the kids. During Easter, loving to be around the kids, I bought some candies and took them to the children at St Joseph’s Children Home. They welcomed me with open and warm arms. Not long after that, I also visited an elementary school and tutored kids in math, my best subject. From the two occasions, I realized the cruelty of the world but at the same time, the light side of it.

As rich people throw away expired food in the trash, some people are sleeping hungry. Seeing the kids appreciate my gifts, which to me was so little made me realize my potential in saving the world. Ever since, I have been saving some cash and made it a routine to visit them every weekend. The community that we live in seems to be selfish. People only think of their stomach and forget about the hungry kids in children homes and on the streets. The community needs to donate clothes and food for the children homes.

They also need to spare some time to visit them occasionally (Freymond 87). It came to my notice, during my visit, that the Children’s Home Society of America funds the children’s home. It is a non-profitable organization to the rescue of the abandoned and homeless children. It gets support from the good-hearted donors all over the world (Tirrito and Cascio 78). Visiting the children home, and the elementary school was bewildering. I did not expect much respect and happiness for my presence.

It made me build confidence in myself knowing that I can also be relevant at some point. It was so encouraging to hear kids call me their role model. It made me feel responsible. The experience comes in two directions, positive and negative. Positively, I learned so much about my capabilities and how much effort I need to put to change lives of innocent homeless kids. Negatively, the experienced changed my attitude towards the society. It is so selfish and heartless, letting innocent children suffer as they enjoy and even throw away food (Cawson, Gorin, Cleaver, and Walker 99) At some point, I realized the role that I have to play in the community.

The impact that I had to the kids serving as a role model to them and teaching them math was very encouraging. Saving some cash, every single day of my life, will help build up more homes to accommodate more homeless kids, however, small it might be (Freymond 109). Homeless children need shelter, food, and clothing just like any other kid. As much as most of the innocent neglected kids are in children homes, some are still out there in the streets. They turn out into drug addicts and end up working in nightclubs with no future.

With my personal experience, in the future, I plan to work in a government position to stand tall, protect all the homeless children in the streets, and educate them. Change is possible with a vision. Shelter the homeless, save lives.Works CitedCawson, Patricia, Gorin, S., Cleaver, S., and Walker, S,. Safeguarding Children: A Shared Responsibility.
