Vulnerable Population (Disability) Authors’ Name Institutional Affiliation Abstract There are many disabled people living in the society, and who need special care and privileges to improve their living conditions. In USA, the number of disabled people as per 2010 was above 56 million, with majority of them having severe disabilities.
They entail IDEA, ADA, Rehabilitation Act, Housing facility Act and Telecommunication Act and their amendments, the open and closed ended entitlement programs for disabled insurance and benefits, and the federal and state grant programs. This document provides a discussion on these people in the US society and also covers the 2020 objectives of ensuring healthy people in the disabled population, and the various roles of nurses in supporting this vulnerable group.
