Title Name: Course: Professor: Institution: City and State: Date: Introduction and Problem Definition Urinary Tract Infections commonly referred to as UTI’s are infections that infect the urethra, the bladder, the ureter and the kidney. This infection is mostly by bacteria infection, E.coli (Rane and Dasgupta, 2013)…

Introduction

. The use of the urinary catheter has some side effects such as kidney failure or even weakening of the body’s general defense mechanism. The kidneys are responsible for filtering the urine so as to make urine, and when there is an infection, especially an untreated infection, it might lead to kidney failure. This tube is usually used when there a person cannot urinate on their own, and hence this tube is inserted to help drain the urine. It can also be used when there is need and essence to establish the amount of urine that a person’s body makes, especially when the person is hospitalized. The tube can also be used when carrying out kidney and bladder tests, and when performing some surgeries (Gotelli et al, 2008). This tube has been associated with urinary tract infections, with some of the signs of the infections being blood in urine, frequent but painful urination after the catheter has been removed and lower abdominal pain. The use of catheter tubes is at times considered a risk to patient safety due to the high rate of infections. The tube provides a more direct access for bacteria and other infectious organisms into the bladder (Bernard, Hunter and Moore, 2012). ...

The effectiveness of the registered nurse managing the urinary catheter in the adult patient. Research Proposal Phase.
Secondary data collection shall therefore be the major procedure to be used by the researcher. This is perfectly appropriate because there are several existing research works on urinary catheter that can supply the researcher with adequate and sufficient data. This notwithstanding, there shall also be primary data collection procedures. Primary data collection involves the collection of firsthand…
Reducing Urinary Catheter Days Versus Catheter Irrigation, Instillation of Antimicrobial Solutions, and Antibiotic Ointments App
The guideline can also be used as a resource for societies or organizations that wish to develop more detailed implementation guidance for prevention of CAUTI. Literature Review Catheter use-Risk factor for contraction of Catheter Urinary Tract Infection Inserted catheters form an entry point for microbes to colonize the patient’s rather sterile body. “Following finite colonization, the risk…
Prevention of Central Line Associated Blood Stream Infections Through Education
CLABSIs have been estimated to occur in the United States hospitals in the range of 250, 000-500, 000 cases annually. This has resulted in high costs of care for patients who have been hospitalized. The need to cut down the costs associated with CLABSIs resulted in research aimed at developing a feasible solution. Research has yielded a mechanism that will see nurses educated on best practices…
Critique: Stone et al (2007) 'Nurse Working Conditions and Patient Safety Outcomes'
The data were collected from the records available in Medicare files as well from their own surveillance study, the latter being designed on the pattern and protocol employed in the National Nosocomial Infection Surveillance System (Stone et al, 2007). The study was designed on the basis of the acute nursing shortage and its impact on hospital environments’, especially intensive care units where…
Indwelling Catheter Removal Protocols
Evidently, with these types of statistics, UTI infections occur at a much higher rate than perhaps they need to, meaning that the prevention of UTI infections in indwelling catheter payments may be easier than previously thought in some cases. Purpose Statement The purpose of this paper is to explore the nursing implications of catheter removal protocols on in-patient units and how this may lead…
