Developing a Question in PICOT Format Affiliation: Introduction: PICOT is a format that has been found to be useful in framing of research questions for any research work. Different researches conducted on the usefulness of following the PICOT format suggest that researchers should follow the format to get an effective research question on which their work can be based and produce structured and meaningful results (Rios, Ye & Thabne, 2010, p.7). Research Question on PICOT Format:Depending on the components of the PICOT format that includes the (P)opulation, (I)ntervention, (C)omparison, (O)utcome and (T)ime, a research question may be developed as follows: Among the young generation of the modern world (P), the dependency on technology has increased to a high level (I) in comparison to earlier times (C), having both positive and negative impacts on their activities (O) in the times of a rapidly developing world (T).

Thus if a research is conducted based on this question, the study would be conducted on the younger generation who forms the target population of the study. The emphasis of the study would be on an understanding of the use of technology in the modern times and comparing the situation with earlier days. The outcomes or consequences would be reflected; the study being based on the time period and development of the technology in the world. Conclusion:The PICOT format gives a clear direction of the research objective and hence enables the researcher to use the appropriate measures that may lead to the desired results or learning through a proper research design and implementation and preparation of report.
