Topic: Review of system (ROS) Versus Gordon health assessment Introduction This paper discusses the difference between the review of the system (ROS) and Gordon health assessment. The Review of the system is a technique used by the nurses to get eliciting reports from the patient including the history of the patient. While the Gordon functional assessment health pattern is a way based on health patterns. This method can be used by nurses during diagnosis for people and it’s based on the well being of the harmony between the human body and the surrounding environment.

In the review for System the patient faces various questions during the review of the system. It’s mostly used by specialists to find the systems that dont have precise diagnostic tests. The patient notes chills and fever but denies vomiting, diarrhea and nausea. They also deny blurred vision and dizziness. The patient’s notes vague headache. They say that they do not have ear pain or red eyes. They also deny that there is the presence of sore throat pain or difficulty and pain in swallowing food.

The patient denies that the neck is paining. While in Gordon functional assessment entails the health perception and the health management of a patient. This is where the patient data is collected focusing the health of the patient. The patient is also examined the drug uses including smoking. These patients don’t have any history of loss in weight or the gain. No fatigue is present, fever or chills. The patient wears glasses. There is what we call Ear, nose, mouth and throat (ENT). Under this category the patient experience a running nose and frequent nose bleeds, pain in the ears sore throat, pain when swallowing (odynophagia).

Under the cardiovascular, this is where the patient will be experiencing some chest pain, difficulty in breathing .Under the respiratory system; we have the patients having some difficulty in breathing and coughing. Let’s now focus under the Gastrointestinal, this is where there is pain in foods, bloating of the stomach, and there is pain in the first day of the menstrual cycle. While in the Gordon functional assessment is where the nurses entail on issues regarding the metabolic processes of the patient.

This is where the nurse digs out about the fluids that the patient takes. Finally on Review of the system, matters concerning allergies, it’s extremely critical to these patients. E.g. a bee sting can cause enormous swelling. There are also matters to do with cat and dogs fur. Some patients suffer from different complications like sneezing. While In the Gordon functional assessment the nurse enquires on matters on elimination patterns. This is where the nurse asks the patients about matters regarding constipations.

In Gordon assessment the Nurses addresses on issues concerning the activity and exercises that the patient Takes every day. Conclusion Between the two discussed health assessment methods, I would prefer the Gordon health assessment method. This is because Gordon entails more on the patients and it also gives the patient a solution to the problems. This is because the nurse focuses on various issues regarding the patient. These issues are like the activity and exercises. There is also the issue on pain where the nurse asks the patient about the sensory experience.

The nurse also focuses on sleep and the rest of the patient, role of the sexuality on how the patient feels about his sexuality, values and beliefs and also faces stress and a solution are given on how he tolerate the stress. So I would recommend the nurses to use the Gordon functional assessment because it entails on the emotions and patterns of the patients. References Weber J.
